2 Orange County Public Schools 2016-2017 Magnet Fairs • November 5 at Evans High School – Twenty-one high school programs – An estimated 4,000 families in attendance • November 12 at Colonial High School – Six elementary programs and nine middle school programs – An estimated 2,000 families in attendance

• Research – Investigated other preferential options – Consulted the offices of Student Enrollment and Governmental Planning and Relations – Preserved current attendance zones – Determined current and projected enrollment figures

20 Orange County Public Schools Geographic Preference • Recommendation – 25% of the seats will be reserved for current attendance zone students who apply – Applicants with this preference will be lotteried based on the 25% • Potential Outcomes – Seats not assigned will be added to the remaining 75% – Students with preference not selected, will have an additional opportunity in the lottery for the remaining 75%
