SHRI BHAGWANTH KHUBA: पेट्रोलियम एवं प्राकृ तिक गैस मंत्री Will the Minister of PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government have conducted proposes to conduct any survey to open new petrol pumps and new LPG distributorships/dealerships in Hyderabad and Karnataka and if so, the details thereof; and (b) the name of the places where new petrol pump and LPG dealership have been opened / proposed to be opened open after the said survey? ANSWER पेट्रोलियम एवं प्राकृ तिक गैस मंत्री (श्री धमेन्द्र प्रधान) MINISTER OF PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS (SHRI DHARMENDRA PRADHAN) (a) Expansion of Retail Outlets (ROs) and LPG distributorships network by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in the country is a continuous process. ROs and LPG distributorships are set up by OMCs at identified locations based on field survey and feasibility studies. Locations found to be having sufficient potential as well as economically viable are rostered in the Marketing Plans for setting up ROs and LPG distributorships. (b) OMCs have commissioned 342 ROs (IOCL:143, BPCL:89 & HPCL:110) in Karnataka and Hyderabad during the last three years and current year. State/District/Location-wise number of ROs where Letter of Intents have been issued by OMCs in the State of Karnataka and Hyderabad as on 01.07.2018 is given in Annexure-I. Details of locations advertised by OMCs for LPG distributorship in the state of Karnataka is given in Annexure-II.

Idris, Jayalakshmi K and Suresha D UAHS, Shivamogga, Karnataka, Ekabote India Mukesh Sehgal Abstract ICAR-National Research Centre The study reveals the socio-economic status of Tribal Farmers of Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka of Integrated Pest Management state. The study area was Yallapura taluk of the Uttara Kannada district. The information was collected LBS Building, Pusa Campus, on the basis of personal interview to each of the farmer through a questionnaire. A total samples of 235 New Delhi, India farmers were selected randomly from three villages viz., Savane, Honnahalli and Hadlikere of the Yallapura taluk during 2016-18. The study revealed that they are very poor farmers with low literacy Md. Idris rates and poor knowledge about agricultural methods. They grow only rice, arecanut, betelvine and ICAR-National Research Centre vegetables without any awareness about their improved management practices. Tourism in India is a large industry. The World Travel and Tourism Council calculated that tourism generated $121 billion or 6.4% of the nation's GDP. It was responsible for 39,3 million jobs, 7.9% of its total employment. The GDP of the tourism sector has expanded 229% between 1990 and 2011. The sector is predicted to grow at an average annual rate of 7.7% in the next decade. This gave India the fifth rank among countries with the fastest growing tourism industry. Where there are Challenges, there are Opportunities and vice versa. The emerging dimensions in Indian tourism and challenges posed due to globalization and liberalization as well as new trends in the tourism markets compels all the destinations to develop new products and strengthen or re-engineer the existing products for retaining, enhancing and capturing new markets.

JAISWAL3 and SOMASIS SENGUPTA1 1Department of Geography, University of Pune, Pune 411 007, India 2Department of Geology, Anna University, Chennai, 600 025, India 3Department of Earth Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata 741 252, India Received 27 January 2010 Accepted 15 September 2010 Abstract: A record of six discrete middle Holocene floods has been established based on sedimen- tological and stratigraphical studies in the upper Kaveri catchment at Siddapur. The flood events are represented by six discrete, sharp-bounded, sand-silt couplets. Texturally and geochemically the suite of couplets is quite distinct from the overlying and underlying structureless fluvial deposits. Based on OSL ages the suite of couplets cover the Holocene from ~8 to ~2 ka. Such evidence is not present or reported from any other river originating in the Western Ghat in the Indian Peninsula. We argue that the six couplets represent short-term, high discharge events or flash floods. The initiation of this phase of flash floods broadly corresponds with the southward migration of ITCZ and a gradual de- cline in Indian summer monsoon precipitation starting at ~7.8 ka. Comparison of the elevation of the highest couplet with the high flood level (HFL) of the 1961 extraordinary flood on Kaveri demon- strates that the 20th century flood was higher than the mid-Holocene palaeofloods.

With her rich cultural heritage as superbly manifest in many of the architectural wonders (palaces, temples, mosques, forts, etc), caves and prehistoric wall paintings, her widely varied topography ranging from the monotonous plains to the loftiest mountains of the world, her large climatic variations ranging from some of the wettest and the driest as well as from the hottest and the coldest parts of the world, beautiful long beaches on the sea coast, vast stretches of sands, gregarious tropical forests and above all, the great variety of the life-style, India offers an unending choice for the tourist. In developing countries like India tourism has become one of the major sectors of the economy, contributing to a large proportion of the National income and generating huge employment opportunities. It has become the fastest growing service industry in the country with great potentials for its further expansion and diversification. Tourism industry is capable to generate employment to both skilled and unskilled workers, directly and indirectly. This paper studied the problem faced by tourism industry in coastal Karnataka .
