Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (Rhkyc) / Aberdeen Boat Club (Abc) Middle Island, Hong Kong DINGHY CLASS AUTUMN AND SPRING SERIES ROYAL HONG KONG YACHT CLUB (RHKYC) / ABERDEEN BOAT CLUB (ABC) MIDDLE ISLAND, HONG KONG NOTICE OF RACE – Amendment 1 (Friday 11 September 2017 – changes are highlighted in yellow) The notation ‘[DP]’ in a rule in the Notice of Race (NoR) means that the penalty for a breach of that rule may, at the discretion of the protest committee, be less than disqualification. 1. ORGANISING AUTHORITY RHKYC or ABC is the organising authority as shown in Appendix 1 – Racing Schedule. 2. RULES 2.1 Both series will be governed by the rules as defined by The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS). 2.2 The Hong Kong Sailing Federation Prescriptions, class association rules, this NoR and Part 3 of RHKYC Standard Sailing Instructions (SSIs) for racing organised by RHKYC or ABC Dinghy SSIs for racing organised by ABC will apply. 2.3 Non class legal sails may be used provided they are of the correct dimensions. 3. ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY 3.1 Each series is open to all dinghies with a current PYS number. 3.2 Eligible dinghies shall enter each race day by completing the online entry form by 1800hrs on the Friday before. The entry form is available at: http://www.rhkyc.org.hk/dinghy-laser.aspx. This modifies RHKYC SSIs Part 3 - 2.1. 3.3 Racing will be cancelled if fewer than three boats enter by the deadline in NoR 3.2. This modifies RHKYC SSIs Part 3 - 2.3. 3.4 Racing will be held in the following divisions and classes: 3.4.1 Division A: 29er, RS400, RS500, 420, Laser 2000, Wayfarer or any other dinghies with PYS of 1196 or less excluding the Laser Standard and Laser Radial classes. 3.4.2 Division B: RS Feva or any other dinghies with PYS of 1197 or greater excluding the Optimist class and the Laser 4.7 class. 3.4.3 Optimist Class. 3.4.4 Laser Standard, Laser Radial and Laser 4.7. 3.5 Depending on the number of entrants, the race officer may start one or more divisions or classes at the same time. 4. SCHEDULE 4.1 The dates for races in each series are as published in Appendix 1 – Racing Schedule. 4.2 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on each day will be 1330hrs. No warning signal will be made after 1520hrs. There will be two on each scheduled racing day, conditions permitting. The second race will start as soon as possible after completion of the first race. 5. VENUE Sailing will take place in either the vicinity of Middle Island, Round Island, Chung Hom Kok or Stanley Bay to ensure fair and safe racing. Boats should allow time to reach Stanley Bay unless advised of another area in advance. Depending on the weather conditions, the Optimist Class may occasionally race in a different area to other dinghies, as decided on the day by the race committee. 6. THE COURSES The course to be sailed will be selected from the RHKYC SSIs Attachment C for racing organised by RHKYC or from ABC SSIs Annexe A for racing organised by ABC. 7. SCORING Each participating club will use its own scoring system for internal prizes. 8. PRIZES Prizes may be given for the winner in each series as decided by the race committee. Page 1 of 2 9. SAFETY 9.1 At all times boats shall keep clear of commercial traffic. Any report to the organising authority that a boat may not have complied with this directive will be investigated. 9.2 Boats shall comply with the safety regulations in the SSIs. [DP] 9.3 Buoyancy aids shall be worn at all times during racing. 9.4 A boat that retires from a race shall notify the race committee as soon as possible. 10. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the racing entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The race committee, the organising authorities (RHKYC and ABC) and their employees will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the racing. 11. INSURANCE All boats taking part in the races shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance of at least the minimum cover required by HKSAR law.     2019 Laser District 8 Grand Prix Sayville Yacht Club Blue Point, L.I., New York August 17-18, 2019 NOTICE OF RACE 1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the International Laser Class Association (ILCA) rules. 1.2 The Organizing Authority is the Sayville Yacht Club. 1.3 The event will be held on the waters of the Great South Bay south of the Sayville Yacht Club. 2 LANGUAGE The official language for this regatta will be English. 3 INSPECTION AND MEASUREMENT Class approved equipment is required. Sails, rigging, boats and equipment may be measured prior to racing, and may also be spot-checked at any time during the regatta. National letters are not required, but if used, must also comply with the class rules. Note that numbers and letters drawn on the sail with permanent ink pens are not legal. Refer to http://www.laserinternational.org/rules/classrules/parttwo/sailregistrationnumbers for detailed instructions. 4 FLEET ELIGIBILITY Laser Standard, Radial and Laser 4.7 competitors who are members of the ILCA-NA or their national Laser Class Association may enter by completing registration with the Sayville Yacht Club. A minimum of three entries are required to constitute a class. For the purpose of awarding Grand Prix points: . A regatta consists of an event scheduled to be sailed over consecutive days . There must be a minimum of three races completed .
