FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 26, 2019 Superstar Soprano Measha Brueggergosman Makes Triumphant Return to the Canadian Opera Stage in Opera Atelier’s Award-Winning Production of Mozart’s –Idomeneo– Lauded Company Makes Ed Mirvish Theatre Debut with Sumptuous Sound, Breathtaking Ballet, and Lavish Scenery Toronto, ON – Opera Atelier is delighted to present their award-winning production of Mozart’s Idomeneo from April 4–13, 2019 at the Ed Mirvish Theatre starring Canadian soprano superstar Measha Brueggergosman, who returns to the Toronto opera stage after an absence of 10 years, in her internationally acclaimed performance as Elettra. Brueggergosman is joined by a luminary cast featuring some of North America’s finest singers including tenor Colin Ainsworth in the title role, mezzo-soprano Wallis Giunta (Young Singer of the Year, 2018 International Opera Awards) as Idamante, soprano Meghan Lindsay as Ilia, bass-baritone Douglas Williams as Neptune, baritone Olivier Laquerre as Arbace, and baritone Bradley Christensen as the Priest. Call for Applications The International Ensemble Modern Academy is cooperating with the Department of Culture of the City of Meersburg on the 1st Hans Zender Academy | November 13–22, 2021 in Meersburg/Bodensee inviting applications from ➢ Instrumentalists (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello) ➢ Singers (Female Voices) ➢ Composers Hans Zender was not only a creative and ever-thoughtful spirit as a composer and conductor, but an initiator of many projects on different levels: exchange with the coming generations of artists was as important to him as what is known today as “music education”. In addition to his support for young composers, working directly with young instrumentalists was a matter dear to his heart: the Meersburger KonzertGespräche, or Meersburg Concert Conversations, initiated in 2018 with Hans Zender’s involvement, are testament to this. Building upon this initiative, the International Ensemble Modern Academy e.V. (IEMA) is partnering with the City of Meersburg, Hans Zender’s last place of residence, to continue not only the Meersburg Concert Conversations, but add a format culminating in a new international master class to be established there: the Hans Zender Academy. The course is intended for advanced students or professionals at the outset of their careers in instrumental performance, voice/singing and composition. Guided by experienced instructors who are Ensemble Modern members, the singer Salome Kammer and the composer Nikolaus Brass, a broad range of repertoire will be rehearsed, chief among it one of Hans Zender’s main works, “Cabaret Voltaire” (2001/02), which was inspired by dadaism. Further works by Giacinto Scelsi, Paul Hindemith, Nikolaus Brass, Maurice Ravel and Arnold Schoenberg round out a programme which is also devoted to tracing the sonic dimensions of language. -

DATE: August 12, 2010 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ABOUT THE COMPANY Sophocles' Elektra Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, September 9—October 2, 2010 Carey Perloff (Director) Carey Perloff is celebrating her nineteenth season as artistic director of Tony Award-winning American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) in San Francisco, where she is known for directing innovative productions of classics, championing new writing for the theater, and creating international collaborations with such artists as Robert Wilson and Tom Stoppard. Before joining A.C.T., Perloff was artistic director of Classic Stage Company (CSC) in New York. She is a recipient of France’s Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the National Corporate Theatre Fund’s 2007 Artistic Achievement Award. Perloff received a B.A. Phi Beta Kappa in classics and comparative literature from Stanford University and was a Fulbright fellow at the University of Oxford. She has taught at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and in the Master of Fine Arts Program in Acting at A.C.T., in addition to authoring numerous plays. This is Perloff’s second encounter with Sophocles’ Elektra, having directed the world premiere of Ezra Pound’s version of the play at CSC in 1988. Timberlake Wertenbaker (Translator/Adaptor) Timberlake Wertenbaker is an acclaimed playwright who grew up in the Basque Country in southwest France.
