Portal Instruments
Portal Instruments DARE TO BE DIFFERENT: INNOVATION VERSUS THE STATUS QUO In this article, Barb Taylor, Senior Director of Marketing, Portal Instruments, discusses the need to differentiate drug products in an ever more competitive market by providing a delivery device that fits comfortably into a patient’s everyday lifestyle, and how Portal Instruments’ Prime needle-free injector does exactly that. If you ask a physician how they decide have support at home to help them what medication to prescribe, the first remember to take their medication and answer is almost always: to manage any anxiety they may feel? CFP: Anthology Collection Focussing on "Star Trek: the Next Generation"
H-Sci-Med-Tech CFP: Anthology Collection focussing on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" Discussion published by peter lee on Thursday, October 15, 2015 Type: Call for Papers Date: November 30, 2015 Subject Fields: American History / Studies, Cultural History / Studies, Film and Film History, Popular Culture Studies, Social History / Studies Star Trek: The Next Generation was far more than a simple reboot of Gene Roddenberry’s original sixties television program. A decade after counterculture’s end, the Watergate scandal and American “malaise,” and now in the waning days of the Reagan Administration, the crew of theEnterprise 1701-D addressed the “next generation” of social, political, and cultural shifts in American society. The television show’s phenomenal success not only spawned four feature films and several television spin-offs, but also changed the face of science-fiction in the twenty-first century. Without Star Trek: The Next Generation, the millennial reboot of Star Trek would have looked vastly different, if it occurred at all. From the moment Captain Jean-Luc Picard walked out of the shadows in “Encounter at Farpoint,” Star Trek: The Next Generation has expanded into the cultural consciousness beyond the confines of television screens. Comic book adaptations, video games, and an “expanded universe” in novels, comic books, and video games have extended Gene Roddenberry’s and his successor’s visions of the future. Terms such as “replicators,” “holodecks,” and “resistance is futile” have entered the public lexicon alongside the old terms “warp drive,” “phasers,” and “beam me up.” This anthology is the first book-length study to considerStar Trek: The Next Generation as an exclusive whole, including the television show, movies, non-continuity extensions, and fandom. -

TREKONOMICS : THE ECONOMICS OF STAR TREK PDF, EPUB, EBOOK Manu Saadia | 280 pages | 31 May 2016 | Pipertext | 9781941758755 | English | none Trekonomics : The Economics of Star Trek PDF Book The road to utopia is littered with failed experiments big and small, from Socialism to the bevy of 19 th century utopian communities. This opens up the whole terrain of planned economies, which, however, do not have to be centrally planned—a model that seems nowadays hardly justifiable both theoretically and historically. At least as many as possible, and in the beginning certainly only a few, which you might not need at all. This is where Star Wars seems to have a leg up in the future vision stakes as their are robots everywhere. Instead of that, we will work to get reputation and respect. Schlemm A Money as an alien: post-monetary elements in utopian literature and science fiction. No, I see a distinct issue not addressed in Star Trek humans-from-earth commerce… In that proposed survey of all businesses shown in the show… Do the doctors talk about their business issues? But the technologies they have would allow extremely fast population growth, either in synthetic but fully sapient persons, or in biological persons — recall that transporter accidents sometimes copy people, which means they could do it on purpose. I think that makes sense. Ludger Eversmann dares again to present a utopia. The purpose of the book is to explore how Star Trekkian society holds together without the neo-classical economic world we take for granted. Hodgson GM Conceptualizing capitalism: institutions, evolution, future. -

LAUTEN 2 (Music.) >> Welcome to Episode 6 of "Open Ninth: Conversations Beyond the Courtroom" in the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. And now here's your host, Chief Judge Frederick J. Lauten. (Music.) >> JUDGE LAUTEN: Hello. I'm here today with Orange County Judge Faye Allen. Judge Allen's been on the bench in Orange County as an Orange County judge since 2005. She received her bachelor of arts degree in criminology from Florida A & M and her Juris Doctorate from Florida State University. Judge Allen, first of all, welcome. >> JUDGE ALLEN: Thank you. >> JUDGE LAUTEN: I understand that you consider yourself a Trekkie. For those listeners who don't know what a Trekkie is, think Star Trek. Think fan. Think the phenomena of a Star Trek fan and its multiple fans. And I think the definition is an avid fan of Star Trek science fiction, television shows, and films or, by extension, a person interested in space travel. Before we talk a little bit about your love of Star Trek, Gene Roddenberry, Captain Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and everything else that is the Star Trek franchise -- and it's 3 truly a franchise -- I'd like to talk a little bit about your background. So why don't you tell me where you're from originally, and why you decided to become a judge. >> JUDGE ALLEN: Fred, I'm originally from Quincy, Florida. It's a few miles west of Tallahassee, the capital. -

It's a Star Trek podcast by a couple of guys who are a little bit embarrassed to have a Star Trek podcast. I'm Ben Harrison. 00:00:23 Adam Host I'm Adam Pranica! Pranica [Music fades out.] 00:00:26 Ben Host Adam, one thing we've talked a lot about over the years is the Star Trek fighting that we occasionally are treated to on this and all the shows we review. 00:00:36 Adam Host That's right. 00:00:37 Ben Host Something that has evolved quite a bit, especially on the new shows. It seems like Star Trek fighting is much more Jason Bourne–level fighting. 00:00:46 Adam Host Right. 00:00:48 Ben Host But I'm old-school! [Both chuckle.] And I really appreciate the dorky fighting that was established in the original series, and continues in TNG and Deep Space Nine.
