Certificación de producto............................................................................ 17 2 | Calidad aplicada a Proyecto Desarrollo y Soporte PoS Cencosud Colombia 1 RESEÑA HISTÓRICA DE LA ORGANIZACIÓN Unisys es una compañía de tecnologías de la información a nivel mundial que se encarga de diseñar, construir y manejar entornos de gestión critica, para todo tipo de compañías, además de prestar y ofrecer servicios de outsourcing, integración de sistemas, servicios de consultoría, servicios de infraestructura, servicios de mantenimiento y tecnología de servidor de alto nivel. Unisys está presente con sus sedes en más de 100 países. En el año 1873 la empresa Remington & Sons presenta la primera máquina de escribir, que se considera como comercialmente viable. La compañía Burroughs inventa la máquina de escribir sumadora y contable para el año 1886. Y en el año 1920 crea la versión portátil. Para el año 1930 la compañía Sperry crea el giroscopio, para sistemas de navegación aérea y comunicación. En el año 1949 la compañía Remington Rand crea el Univac conocido como el primer ordenador dirigido especialmente a los negocios o compañías. Para el año 1955 se presenta la fusión entre las compañías Sperry Rand Corporation y Remington Rand. Se crea la división Univac encargada de la creación y comercialización de ordenadores. Pasado un tiempo Univac se separa de la corporación, convirtiéndose en una empresa de informática. Para el día 26 de mayo de 1986 se realiza la fusión entre las compañías americanas Sperry Corporation y Burroughs Corporation, las cuales cuentan para este momento con más de 100 años de experiencia en desarrollar sistemas y tecnologías de la información, dicha fusión dio nacimiento a Unisys. Para esta fusión Univac es adquirida por la compañía Burroughs, donde se lleva a cabo la fusión que da nacimiento a Unisys. Para el año 1993 Unisys crea el primer mainframe con tecnología CMOS. Uno de los principales negocios de Unisys en cuanto a soluciones y servicios se presenta para el año 1994. En el año 2000, Unisys crea el primer sistema ES 7000, con una arquitectura especializada que facilita sacar la mayor cantidad de provecho a la escalabilidad del MS-Windows 2000 Datacenter Server (32 procesadores). 3 | Calidad aplicada a Proyecto Desarrollo y Soporte PoS Cencosud Colombia En el año 2003 Unisys Business da a conocer al público Blueprinting. Para el año 2004 se presenta el lanzamiento de 3D Visible Enterprise. En el año 2006 es creado por Unisys el estudio encarado de la medición de resultado de las actitudes de los consumidores estrechamente relacionados con la seguridad, el cual se encuentra dividido en cuatro áreas de importancia, como: la seguridad nacional, personal, financiera y de Internet, conocido con el nombre de Security Index. Para el año 2007 Unisys crea un centro de datos donde incluye la utilización de servidores de eficiencia energética, lo que hace que su diseño sea “verde”. En el año 2008 Unisys crea el sistema integrado regulador de tráfico en la terminal 3 del aeropuerto de Beijing, como parte de la preparación para los juegos olímpicos. Llegado el año 2009, Unisys genera la creación de planes de acción enfocados al fortalecimiento de compañías en crecimiento en el mercado de la seguridad, outsourcing, centros de datos de transformación, soporte al usuario final y actualizaciones de aplicaciones. 4 | Calidad aplicada a Proyecto Desarrollo y Soporte PoS Cencosud Colombia 2 PLANTEAMIENTO DEL PROBLEMA Actualmente Unisys de Colombia cuenta con procedimientos generales para desarrollo de software, los cuales deben ser aplicados según las necesidades del proyecto y el modelo de negocio sobre el que se está trabajando, se sugiere que la aplicación de dichos procedimientos se realice de manera parcial según se necesite en el desarrollo, es así como se evidencia que no se encuentra establecido un proceso realmente claro, estructurado, detallado y organizado del procedimiento a seguir para la evaluación de calidad del software y su certificación, que además dependa de las necesidades del proyecto. Las normas creadas por Unisys para realizar la evaluación de los productos de desarrollo de software se encuentran definidas de una forma sumamente superficial, pues describen un procedimiento poco detallado, haciendo la aclaración que los proyectos pueden aplicarlas del modo en que lo crean conveniente, es así que esta potestad brindada a los proyectos tiene el beneficio de ser manejada por las personas que tienen conocimiento del tema, pero esto también tiene varios factores en contra, ya que el procedimiento de evaluación de calidad del software y su certificación puede ser manipulado por las personas del proyecto a su conveniencia, lo que lleva a que dicho procedimiento no se realice de forma adecuada y estandarizada, presentando demora en la entrega de los productos desarrollados, errores de alta, media y baja importancia en producción, lo que implica que se deba generar pausa en la operación del cliente y reversar versiones, generando molestia y perdidas para el cliente, así que todos estos errores llevan a generar demoras, costos y trabajo adicional para Unisys, pues se debe iniciar el proceso del desarrollo, evaluándolo, rediseñándolo, realizando las respectivas correcciones y generando nuevamente el respectivo procedimiento de pruebas. 5 | Calidad aplicada a Proyecto Desarrollo y Soporte PoS Cencosud Colombia El procedimiento que se está aplicando para la evaluación y calidad del software desarrollado por Unisys para el proyecto de Desarrollo y Soporte PoS Cencosud se realiza de forma poco adecuada y desordenada, debido a que en el proyecto no se tienen en cuenta parte de los procedimientos descritos en la normatividad de la compañía, pues la documentación que se encuentra de estos es bastante extensa, poco clara y muy generalizada, con el carácter de ser aplicada al negocio Unisys, pues no cuenta con procedimientos específicos para cada proyecto, además se realiza la certificación del desarrollo, pero no se tienen conceptos y procedimientos claros al respecto. 2.1 CAUSAS Personal sin experiencia en el cargo: varias de las personas en el cargo de evaluación de software no han realizado ninguna labor evaluativa de productos en su vida, además no se les brinda la capacitación adecuada, con la documentación respectiva que les pueda brindar herramientas de conocimiento y manejo adecuado del tema a tratar. No hay procesos claramente establecidos: los procedimientos de calidad de producto establecidos por Unisys son generalizados para su aplicación a la compañía como tal, pero no se hace especificación

He received the bachelor of science degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1941. His 1943 master of science degree in electrical engineering was from the University’s Moore School of Electrical Engineering. Pres and his wife, Judith, had four children and made their home in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania. He was known as a serious worker who wanted things done right. His family and his students at the university attest to his readiness to be helpful and his devotion to vigorous and healthy living. He died June 3, 1995, in Bryn Mawr at the age of seventy-six.     Author Gerry Pickering CREATIVITY – SUCCESS – OBSCURITY UNIVAC, WHAT HAPPENED? A fellow retiree posed the question of what happened. How did the company that invented the computer snatch defeat from the jaws of victory? The question piqued my interest, thus I tried to draw on my 32 years of experiences in the company and the myriad of information available on the Internet to answer the question for myself and hopefully others that may still be interested 60+ years after the invention and delivery of the first computers. Computers plural, as there were more than one computer and more than one organization from which UNIVAC descended. J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly, located in Philadelphia PA are credited with inventing the first general purpose computer under a contract with the U.S. Army. But our heritage also traces back to a second group of people in St. Paul MN who developed several computers about the same time under contract with the U.S. Navy. This is the story of how these two companies started separately, merged to become one company, how that merged company named UNIVAC (Universal Automatic Computers) grew to become a main rival of IBM (International Business Machines), then how UNIVAC was swallowed by another company to end up in near obscurity compared to IBM and a changing industry. Admittedly it is a biased story, as I observed the industry from my perspective as an employee of UNIVAC. It is also biased in that I personally observed only a fraction of the events as they unfolded within UNIVAC. This story concludes with a detailed account of my work assignments within UNIVAC.

    FROM News Bureau BURROUGHS CORPORATION Detroit, Michigan 48232 Phone: 875-2260, Ext. 2234 FOR RELEASE AUGUST 11, 1964 Burroughs Corporation announced today a new, modular electronic data processing system of advanced logical design -- the B5500 -- which has up to three times more productive capacity than the B5000. The powerful B5500 integrates fast new hardware with a unique automatic controlling and operating system, providing full real-time capabilities. Developed from proved-in-use design, the system is effective and econom.ical in both commercial and scientific applications. Demonstrations of the B5500 will begin in October at Burroughs ElectroData Manufacturing &: Engineering Division, Pasadena, Calif. Deliveries of the new system, which spans the medium to large scale computer range, will begin in six months. In announcing the new computer, Ray R. Eppert, Burroughs president, declared: "The extremely high productivity of the B5500 -- what we call 'throughput' -- results from the maximum utilization of new organization concepts in a balanced system that accomplishes more real work in a given period of time. "This is called rapid 'turn-around' by many B5000 users who have praised the speed with which the system can finish one job and get started on another," Eppert added. "The amount of work done, measured against the dollar investment, is what counts with the user. " The high "throughput" of the B 5500 is the product of four major abilities of the new system: - 2 - Multiprocessing techniques permit simultaneous handling of two or more programs. For example, while printing out the results of one job, the computer can perform computation on other, different problems and take in raw data on still another task.
