No archaeological material was recovered from the watching brief on geotechnical trial pits. Beneath the present ground surface, were modern cellars and foundations which reached the levels of undisturbed, archaeologically sterile natural deposits. No further periods recorded under this site code. A large historic quarry pit was found during a watching brief at 23‐45 Fann Street, undertaken by the Museum of London Archaeology Service in December 1998 (site code FNN98). No datable evidence was recovered, but oyster shells and animal bones in the backfill were taken as indicators of its antiquity. The large size of the pit suggests an historic rather than prehistoric date for this feature.
