It’s CARDINAL FOOTBALL Time !!! September 2015 A FORCE to Reckon With in the ACC The Cardinals begin their second year in the ACC with a challenging schedule that is sure to bring Volume 5, Issue 6 out the crowds. Most fans will be curious to see the new players that make up the 2015 team, and watch them in action. The Cardinals team looks different this year. 10 U of L players were a part of the NFL’s spring draft this year including DeVante Parker, Gerod Holliman, and Lorenzo Mauldin. In total, Louisville has been seeking to replace 24 upperclassmen on the squad as they enter the 2015 season. The mix of new talent and veteran players is sure to give fans a thrill and shake up the ACC schools on the roster. A New Fan Experience Fans also have some new things to look forward to at Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium this year. New and improved services are available and more attention to a FANtastic experience at Cardinal home games is the priority. Wheelchair assistance personnel are available for those needing extra care in getting to their seats. Fans can also call 502-852-0083 for assistance in leaving their seats as well. Another new feature is the ability for fans to text their concerns to PJCS staff. Fans that want to re- port unruly fan behavior or any other issue without leaving their seat can text "VILLE" with the issue and location to 69050. A stadium staff member will respond that the text message has been re- ceived and will work to ensure the issue is being attended to. Another improvement is the installation of a Distributed Antenna System that is being mounted above the Howard Schnellenberger Complex to provide better cellular coverage (through Verizon). This in addition to the new “Lactation Locations” for nursing mothers, new LED TV displays on the con- course, expanded customer relations booths, and shuttle services being provided this year. Im- proved custodial services from Physical Plant custodial services, and a more attentive staff who take pride in being a part of the Cardinal experience also makes a tremendous impact on the fans. Faster response times, more efficiently placed supply stations, and better trained staff are only part of the improvements made by Physical Plant custodial services. These services show a renewed focus on the fans and their Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium experience. Constructing Excellence The south end of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium is under construction with the Thornton's Aca- demic Center of Excellence being built under the Custodial Services Division Norton Healthcare Terrace. While much of the - interior of the south end will be fenced off for construction purposes, fans will see minimal changes to the previous game-day setup. This state-of-the-art facility will house academic oper- ations and provide a central location for all stu- dent-athletes and academic staff, further assist- ing UofL student-athletes to excel in the class- room. The 40,000-square-foot center will feature tutorial areas, a high-performance training table to feed the student-athletes, computer laboratories, and office and classroom space that will serve over 750 student-athletes across the Cardinals' 23 sports on a daily basis. Completion of this construc- tion is targeted for May 2016. At the North end zone, further expansion of the sta- dium is planned to increase the seating by 10,000 seats bringing the total capacity to 65,000. New scoreboards are to be installed as well as 1,000 club seats, 65 premium loge level boxes, and 10 field level suites. The project will also include major ren- ovation to the Schnellenberger Complex, improving their training facilities and the services available to the athletes. The goal is to be completed with the Published by the Physicalexpansion Plant Department before the season opener against Notre Dame in 2019.
