LAST GAME (Oct. 26) - Ottawa 3 at Colorado 6 Colorado's top line of Gabriel Landeskog (1g/2a), Nathan MacKinnon (1g/2a) and Mikko Rantanen (1g/3a) combined for 10 points, and the Avalanche rallied from a pair of two-goal deficits to beat the Ottawa Senators, 6-3, at Pepsi Center. The Avs out-shot Ottawa 37- 24, went 2-for-3 on the power play and killed both Senators PP chances.

TONIGHT The Avalanche heads to Minnesota to face the Wild in the second half of a back-to-back tonight in St. Paul. The Avs beat the Senators 6-3 last night in Denver. This evening's contest is technically the start of a three-game road trip for the Avalanche, although the team will return home for a few days before resuming the trip in Calgary and Vancouver. Colorado is in the middle of a stretch that has them playing nine-of-12 and 11-of-15 away from home. The Avs open the season with 11 of their first 17, 14 of their first 22 and 19 of their first 30 away from Denver.

OCTOBER RECORDS • With nine goals apiece, Landeskog and MacKinnon have tied the Avalanche record (since 1995-96) for goals in the month of October. They are the fifth and sixth different Colorado skaters to tally nine goals in October, joining Joe Sakic in 1997-98, Peter Forsberg in 2000-01, Chris Stewart in 2010-11 and Matt Duchene in 2013-14. • Rantanen's 20 points and 15 assists are one shy of equaling the Avs' October record in both categories; Sakic had 21 points and 16 assists in 1996-97. • Landeskog leads the NHL with four game-winning goals, matching the Avalanche record for GWG in a single month held by Forsberg (Oct. 2000), Milan Hejduk (Dec. 2000) and Marek Svatos (Nov. 2005).

BACK-TO-BACK The Avs are finishing their first back-to-back set of the season, as they face the Wild tonight after beating the Senators 6-3 last night in Denver. Colorado is scheduled for 11 back-to-back games in 2018-19. The Avalanche also played 11 last year, finishing 5-3-3 in the first game and 3-8-0 in the second.

NOT BAD FOR STARTERS Colorado is tied with Nashville for the league lead with 16 points (7-2-2). That 7-2-2 mark equals the fourth-best record through 11 games since the franchise relocated in 1995-96.

AVS & WILD Tonight is the 100th regular-season meeting between the Avalanche and Wild. This is the second of four matchups in 2018-19 and the first of two here at Xcel Energy Center. Colorado won the first meeting 4-1 on opening night (Oct. 4) at Pepsi Center. The Avs have now won four straight against the Wild, out-scoring Minnesota 23-5. Colorado has won the last three meetings in Denver by a combined score of 18-4. The Avs' current four-game winning streak over the Wild is their longest in the regular season since 2005-06 (4-0-0, Jan. 5—Feb. 28, 2006). The Avs finished 3-0-1 against the Wild last season, losing the first game in a shootout before winning the last three matchups by a combined 19-4 score.

DRESSED TO KILL The Avalanche ranks third in penalty killing at 89.4% (42/47). Colorado has killed 14-of-15 (93.3%) at home. The Avs are 6-0-1 when shutting out the opposition's power play and 1-2-1 when allowing a PPG. Last season, the Avalanche finished fourth overall (83.3%) and first at home (91.7%), which included setting an NHL record for fewest PPG allowed on home ice (10).

FEEL THE POWER The Avs went 2-for-3 with the man advantage last night and rank 10th at 27.5% (11-40). Colorado has scored a power-play goal in nine of its 11 games.

LET'S GO STREAKING MacKinnon and Rantanen tallied points in each of their first nine games, matching the longest scoring streak to begin a season in Avalanche history (since the franchise relocated in 1995-96). They equaled the mark set by John-Michael Liles in 2010-11. Mikko and Nathan were the first set of teammates in Avalanche/Nordiques franchise history to open a season with simultaneous nine-game point streaks.

LONGEST SEASON-OPENING POINT STREAKS AVALANCHE HISTORY (since 1995-96) 9 - Nathan MacKinnon, 2018-19 9 - Mikko Rantanen, 2018-19 9 - John-Michael Liles, 2010-11 8 - Joe Sakic, 1999-00

FIRST STAR Landeskog was named the NHL's First Star for the week of Oct. 15-21. He led the NHL with six goals and finished tied for the league lead with seven points in three games last week.

VARLY AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS Semyon Varlamov ranks among the NHL leaders in wins (4), save percentage (.953) and goals-against average (1.56). He has allowed one goal in four of his seven starts and two goals or less in six of his seven (he gave up three in his other). Varly began the season 4-0-2, his longest streak without a regulation loss to start a season, and the longest streak to begin a year by an Avalanche goalie since J.S. Giguere started 7-0-0 in 2013-14.

BRIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD The Avalanche finished 3-0-1 (.875) on its recent four-game trip to New York, New Jersey, Carolina and Philadelphia. It was the club's best road trip of at least four games since 2011-12, when they went 5-0-0 on a five-game swing Oct. 10-17, 2011.

HOME, SWEET HOME The Avs are 3-1-1 at home this season and 21-5-2 in their last 28 regular-season games at Pepsi Center. Colorado finished 28-11-2 on home ice last season, tying its franchise record for the most home victories set in 2000-01.

HATS OFF Landeskog tallied his third career hat trick on Oct. 18 at New Jersey. A few notables on his night: • First hat trick by an Avalanche player on the road since Dec. 28, 2015 (MacKinnon at San Jose). • He has recorded each of the last three hat tricks by the Avs. • His three hat tricks since the start of 2017-18 are tied for the most in the NHL. • All three have come vs. Eastern Conference opponents (WSH, TBL, NJD). • Is one of only six players in Avalanche history (since the franchise relocated in 1995-96) to tally three career hat tricks, joining Joe Sakic (10), Peter Forsberg (7), Milan Hejduk and Valeri Kamensky (both 5) and Claude Lemieux (3).

MACKINNON SETS FRANCHISE MARK MacKinnon scored a goal in each of his first six games, Oct. 4-16, establishing a franchise record for the longest goal streak to begin a season. He eclipsed the previous mark of five straight games with a goal set by Mats Sundin to open the 1992-93 campaign with Quebec. MacKinnon's streak was a career high and the longest by an Avalanche player at any point of a season since Milan Hejduk scored in seven straight from Feb. 11-23, 2003.

CONSECUTIVE GAMES WITH GOAL TO START SEASON AVALANCHE/NORDIQUES HISTORY 6 - Nathan MacKinnon, 2018-19 5 - Mats Sundin, 1992-93 4 - John Mitchell, 2015-16 4 - Michel Goulet, 1983-84

LEND A HELPING HAND Rantanen tallied an assist in each of his first eight games, Oct. 4-20, the second-longest assist streak to start a season in franchise history. He fell one shy of Liles' mark of nine straight with a helper to open the 2010-11 campaign.

EAST SIDE STORY Last night ended a stretch of six straight games and nine-of-10 against the Eastern Conference. Colorado is 6-2-1 against Eastern teams this season. The Avs finished 19-11-2 against the East last year, 11-4-1 at home. The Avs were 9-3-1 in their final 13 games against the other conference, 7-1-0 in their last eight at home.

THIS DAY IN AVS HISTORY Oct. 27, 2013 - The Avalanche beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 to cap off a 10-1-0 month of October, the highest points percentage of any month in franchise history (.909).

UPCOMING MILESTONES - Tyson Barrie – 3 points to tie Adam Foote (259) for second place on the franchise’s defenseman scoring list. - Barrie - 1 goal to tie Rob Blake (62) for third place on the franchise’s defenseman goals list. - Erik Johnson – 2 assists for 200 - Nathan MacKinnon – 2 assists for 200
