Solid package with no extrasBy Christian HartmanWhile the collection is complete (including each cover), I knocked off a star for the total lack of introductory material on the characters, the production of the title, or Fritz Leiber. The book is printed on cheap(ish) paper but the coloring looks authentic as does the artwork (ie: not overly digitally enhanced). If you are a fan of 70's era SS or of Leiber's originals you should be happy with this collection.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Fun adventuresBy Joseph M. ReningerIn 1973, DC Comics started a new series called "Sword of Sorcery." The first issues were about Fritz Leiber's fantasy action duo, beefy barbarian Fafhrd and scampish rouge The Gray Mouser. They live in Nehwon, "a timeless land, a placeless place, which may--or may not--be of the planet Earth." They are the greatest swordsman of the land and are always in search of great adventures, strong drink, and soft women. Issues 1 through 5 are gathered in this volume.The stories blend fun action with fantasy plots, mostly based on stories by Leiber. In the titular "The Cloud of Hate," the boys follow a foggy mist that has pulled a dagger out of a dead body and is carrying it across the town of Lankhmar. It's Mouser's blade, so naturally they have to get it back. Also, doubtless the fog has stolen more valuable things that they can plunder. My favorite story was probably "Revenge of the Skull of Jewels" with its fun fight scenes and good dialogue. The jewel-encrusted skull of a thief wants to get back to Lankhmar's theives' guild, causing all sorts of complications and horrors.An imaginative diversion, perfect light summer reading!0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. "We (the SGA) thought it would be neat for the student body to came together as a whole to honor Dr. Mae,instead of the University always being separated by Greeks, independents, faculty and staff. I'm real pleased with how it turned out," Brbour said. --- She extended her thanks to all the organizations, clubs and individuals who helped to make the program a success. "If we (the University) all work together, there is no limit to what we can accomplish this year," Barbour said. I wish I could say that the first thing I noticed about Dick Giordano was the mastery of his inking line, or his knack for drawing sexy women, or even his editorial run on Aquaman . My appreciation of those and countless other Giordano attributes came later. The first thing I noticed about Dick Giordano was his really groovy sideburns. It would be many years before I’d have the pleasure of Working meeting the legendary Mr. Giordano, but in 1970, at age 12, by his side, I I saw Neal Adams’ penciled portrait of Dick (as well as of learned his himself, Carmine Infantino, and Joe Kubert) in a DC Comics secret: Dick house ad celebrating the Comic Art Convention’s “Alley Giordano is a Award” honors presented that year to those talented gentle - mutant. He was Dig Dick’s mega-muttonchops! men. Dick, who won in the “Best Comic Editor” category born with the ©2003 DC Comics.

Stan Lee: In Memoriam By Galilea Navarro It is unarguable that Stan Lee transformed the comic book landscape into what it was, what it is, and what it will be for years to come. As one of the most important and influential figures in American pop culture, he revolutionized the idea, the notion, of what it means to be a hero. Lee was a relentless spirit with a work ethic to match, who used his impoverished upbringing to pull himself from the shadows of an uncertain future to become the man he is remembered as today. And though he did achieve exactly that, it was not without the help of a collective of brilliant minds from writers to artists that helped Marvel’s “Method Man” establish his legacy. It is difficult to think of a world without Stan Lee, as his knack for spotting—and oftentimes exploiting—talent gave the world some of its most beloved characters, and his cameos in the films have endeared him to fans all over the world.
