he Indian Army team Tcomprehensively won the 5th International Army Scout Masters Competition held at Jaisalmer Military Station from 5th to 16th August 2019 under the aegis of Konark Corps, Southern Command of the Indian Army. The competition which started on 5th August with a grand opening ceremony had a total of eight teams from Armenia, Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, India, Russia, Sudan and Uzbekistan participating in it. The eight nations’ participating teams underwent gruelling competition in five stages spread over nine days in tough Helicopter Mounting Drills. desert conditions that tested their adaptability, professional acumen, grit, capability and dedication. ndian Coast Guard Fast Patrol IVessel (Yard 2117) was named Kanaklata Barua at an impressive launching ceremony at GRSE Kolkata on August 10, 2019. The ceremonial naming was done by Smt Veena Ajay Kumar, wife of Dr Ajay Kumar, Secretary (Defence Production), Chief Guest of the event, in the presence of Inspector General Rajan Bargotra, Commander Coast Guard Region (NE), Rear Admiral VK Saxena, IN (Retd), Chairman & Managing Director, GRSE and other senior dignitaries of the Central and State government. The vessel is fifth and last of the series of the class being built by M/s Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, Kolkata. The first ship of this class, ICGS Priyadarshini, has already been commissioned on March 27, 2019. The entire design of the ship has been developed in-house by M/s GRSE as per requirement of Indian Coast Guard. The ship is 50 metres long & 7.5 metres wide with a displacement of around 308 tonnes. The ship is designed for maximum speed of 34 knots, with an endurance of more than 1500 nautical mile at cruising speed of 12-16 Knots. The ship is equipped with 3 Main Engines with advanced communication and navigational systems. The FPVs are ideal platforms for undertaking multifarious close- coast missions such as surveillance, interdiction, Search and Rescue and medical evacuation etc. Naming and launching of the ship is an important milestone in the life of the ship which actually signifies birth of a ship.
