KARGIL VIJAY DIVAS NO AGONY, NO PAIN, SHELL MAKE ME CRY___SOLDIERS WAS BORN, SOLDIER SHALL I DIE___ With this great phrase, I would like share my view and remembering the real heroes of this mission. THE KARGIL WAR or VIJAY, this mission was not only mission for our soldier, that was their duty to their motherland. As, the scars of the war was the infiltration of Pakistani troops disguised as Kashmir militants into position on the Indian side of LOC. This particular operation was given down code-named operation Safed sagar. Now this day 26 July, is celebration as ”Kargil Vijay Divas” every year to mark the successful completion of operation Vijay. As we talk about , Anuj Nayyar was an Indian army officer of the 17th battalion, Jat Regiment who laid down his life while battling at the tiger hill on 17 July 1999 during the Kargil war. He was posthumously awarded the Mahavir chakra for his exemplary valor during combat operation. Indian army major Padmapani Acharya of the second battalion Rajputana rifles, was killed by enemy at lone hill on June 28 1999, during the Kargil conflict. He was awarded the Mahavir chakra for is heroic act of bravery despite succumbing to injuries. Major Rajesh Singh Adhikari was an Indian army officer who died in a battle of tololing on may 30 1999,during the Kargil war. He was awarded the gallantry honor, Mahavir chakra for his breviary in warfare. Nayak Digendra Kumar served the second battalion of the Rajputana rifles during the 1999, the Kargil war before retiring in 31st July 2005. He was awarded the Mahavir chakra on 15 august 1999 for his heroism in battlefield. Rifleman Sanjay Kumar, 13 Jammu and Kashmir rifles was the leading scout of the team entrusted with capturing Area flat top, which was being held by enemy. He was shot in chest and forearm but sustained the attack despite bleeding profusely. Charged by his act of daredevilry, the rest of the platoon attacked the enemy bunkers and captured area flat top . he was awarded with Param veer chakra. Captain Manoj kumar Pandey of 1st battalion Gorkha rifles , participated in a series of boldly lead attacks during ‘operation vijay’ forced back the intruder batalic sector on June 11, 1999. His leadership lead to the capture of jauber top and khalubar on early hour of July 3, 1999. Pandey succumbed to his injuries on the hill top and was honored with the pram veer chakra. Captain Vikram Batra 13th Jammu and Kashmir rifles, was ordered to recaptured the highest point on tololing ridge, peak5140, where Pakistani invaders had taken positions in bunkers. He was martyred on July 26 , 1999 while trying to rescue an injured soldier. The peak he died on, point 4875 , is new called Batra top . He was awarded with Param veer chakra , the highest military honor . The Kargil war memorial , built by the Indian Army, is located in Dras , in the pot hills of toloing hills .The names of the soldier who lost their live in the war are inscribed on the memorial wall and can be read by visitors. A giant national flag, weighing 15kg was hoisted at the Kargil war memorial to commemorate the 113th anniversary of Indian’s victory in the war . These were some Kargil war memories and I would end with some lines. They proved to the world that Indian armed forces will prevail , no matters the odd !! To those who laid down their lives reclaiming the heights of Kargil and to those who fought till the enemy was crushed--- this grateful nation will never forget your sacrifices .
