Ever the futurist, Tony recognized Fear Itself: Avengers to beat a group of Asgardian empowered foes he would need to create Fear Itself: Avengers team of Asgardian empowered Avengers. The events that followed saw the Avengers decked out in Uru armor and weapons in their final battle to defend the Earth. Even Thor takes up a new weapon, the Odinsword Ragnarok, in the final battle against Cul. However, in the time that Tony was gone creating these weapons, Captain America's shield had been broken. Not knowing this, Tony Fear Itself: Avengers without a gift for Cap, who seems more than happy donning the weapons of civilians in his holding of the line. While Captain America wasn't the first Avenger to lift it and had even lifted it beforethe sight of Captain America holding Mjolnir completes the idea of an Asgardian powered Avengers team. Fear Itself: Avengers moment completely shifts the tide of the battle as well, where previously the world Fear Itself: Avengers in bad shape and Odin was poised to essentially destroy it to win, the arrival of the Mighty and a Mjolnir-wielding Captain America return hope to Earth and strikes fear into their foes. We also see Iron Fist and Doctor Strange combine their innate mystical powers with their new Asgardian weapons, while Cap masterfully wields Mjolnir and She-Hulk slashes and smashes her way through hordes of villains with the Savage Sword. Eventually, Odin arrives to join the battle, but not before Thor fulfills the prophecy by slaying the Serpent Cul and losing his life in the process. First, who the heck appointed Hank Pym, the Gregor Samsa of the Marvel universe, to be the guy in charge of these kids. All this guy does throughout this volume is apologize. To everyone. Whether they Fear Itself: Avengers an apology or not. The kids here need a lot of monitoring. You see these are the Avenger initiates who were tortured by Norman Osborn when he was running Fear Itself: Avengers and who also straddle a thin line between going superhero or super villain. This is a superhero comic, is there ever a training wheel assignment? Things get busy when the seven Asgardian hammers come crashing to Earth and the kiddies have to plug some holes in the leaky dike that is this all encompassing cross-over plot line. So they go up against the hammer empowered pair: Absorbing Man and Titania. Absorbing Man has a personal vendetta against Pym I'm guessing for not saying, "I'm sorry. So it is game on whether the tykes are ready or not. The action here which also includes a bout with The Sinister Six and Nazi sigh Mech bots is compelling and focused enough to make this an interesting read. View all 6 comments. Writer Christos Gage has Fear Itself: Avengers knack for writing great teen superhero stories and it shows, even if he had to work around the Fear Itself: Avengers Itself crossover event this titled tied in to. This would have been a stronger collection of stories if it, especially if they Fear Itself: Avengers able pay back the Sinister Six for the impromptu education in super-villain management they received in the first title of this collection. The main teen cast get to say Ostensibly, I'm giving it four stars, but it is more of 3. The main teen cast get to say goodbye, if not to each other but to their original headquarters. Indeed, the main consequence of this set of issues ended up with Avengers Academy with a diminished roster, but with a lot of promise for its next iteration; especially if one is a fan of the classic Avengers stories set in the West Coast branch of the franchise. This was an entertaining book and I wish I had more of it to read. These are the kind of stories I really wanted from these characters. Fear Itself: Avengers Academy was finally able to blend the teen drama and consequences of their powers with a real impact. I enjoyed the high stakes, and growth in this book immensely. Sometimes books forced into cross-overs loose their identities but, for me, this book really found it. This book made the build up and development from the earlier books worth it. Avengers Academy 14 -- "Disaster Response": The Academy is falling apart, it seems, and the kidsdesirous to show off their preparedness, cajole their teachers -- Giant Man Hank Pym and Tigra -- into sending them into an active situation to take on Electro, who is running amok in a French labratory. It's a trap, however, and the whole Sinister Sixincluding the ever "super I'm mini-reviewing each issue as I go again. It's a trap, however, and the whole Sinister Sixincluding the ever "superior" Doc Oc, are up Fear Itself: Avengers no Fear Itself: Avengers. The wee-Avengers get their asses handed to Fear Itself: Avengers, the Sinister Six escape, and as usual, Hank -- the angstiest of all Marvel characters -- blames himself. There is a nice moment when the Avengers get booted from France and Headmaster Pym takes heat for sending baby Avengers instead of the real thing to deal with the situation, but there was little else of interest here. This issue feels like filler before something real happens, but those issues aren't always poor. Sometimes they are the best issues in a run. Here, though, apart from the Sinister Sixthis issues is just plain lame. Avengers Academy The exposition and recapping was awful at the beginning of this issue. Thank the comic gods for the introduction of recap pages. Anyway, our wee-Avengers are still stuck on the idea that they're only provisional Avengers to keep them from becoming super-villains, so they decide to seek out others of their generation who were tortured and experimented on by Norman Osborne when he was in charge of S. And finally He wants to change the world, but first he wants to recruit the wee-Avengers to his cause. It could be the beginning of a beautiful antagonism. Avengers Academy 15 -- "No Unwounded Soldiers": The shit hits the Raft, and the super-villains are loose in the world.
