The Council fully supported this application, noting that the proposed work would not impact visually on the dale, being hidden from view, and made good use of existing facilities; 17.2 R/01/161 – Affordable Housing, Arkengarthdale. The Council fully supported this application, noting that the new houses would encourage young families to live in the dale. 18/18 Interpretation Board The Council received a report from Coun. Lundberg on the stand for the board, which would be sourced and made locally from green oak. The supplier would require the board from the National Park in order to produce the stand. The National Park would be contacted.[Action JW] 19/18 GDPR The Council considered the requirements for compliance with the new EU General Data Protection Regulation legislation noting that, although small parish councils were exempt from much of the legislation, it would nevertheless be prudent to install additional antivirus software on the Council’s IT equipment.

PUBLIC REPRESENTATIONS Residents raised concerns over the increase in dog fouling in the Rowan Court area and expressed dissatisfaction with the standard of the verges cutting. Cllr Sedgewick reported back to the Council on a meeting attended with the highways improvement manager to discuss the safety of Moor rd. Highways responded to the following four proposed solutions to improve pedestrian safety; 1. A painted footway on the road –May give false sense of security to pedestrians. 2. Waiting restrictions painted on the carriageway-This would prevent parking on the road, however the highways consider that the parked cars act as traffic calming and slow the traffic down. 3. A pedestrian activated sign 4. Creating a priority over oncoming vehicles- This may cause congestion of traffic backing up the road. Cllr Sedgewick concluded by informing the Council that the highways do not consider Moor Road safety as a high priority, therefore no further steps will be taken at the moment due to financial restrictions. Cllr Sedgewick also updated the council that Metcalfe farms have installed signage at the end of their road instructing traffic to turn right to try to reduce the traffic on Moor Road.

We understand that the ticket machines have been ordered . This car park is currently used by customers of The Station, Richmond Swimming Pool and Liberty Gym. All of these buildings and the activities which take place in them are organised and maintained through the efforts of two local volunteer-led charities: The Station – Is operated by The Richmondshire Building Preservation Trust The Pool and Gym – Are operated by the Richmond Leisure Trust If you regularly use these ‘much loved’ charity-run-facilities , and choose to park your vehicle in the council owned Station Yard Car Park, you will shortly be charged for your visit. The charities that operate these facilities believe that what is being proposed will have an immediate and detrimental impact on these community amenities which are run on a ‘not-for profit’ basis - and could ultimately force them to close. The local authority appear to have little or no relevant research on which to justify their position. Your help is needed NOW to ensure that the views of people like you, who value The Station, pool and gym, to make your voices heard on this critical issue by writing to or phoning your district councillor, if you live in Richmondshire or writing to the head of the local authority if you don't.
