The two available are Coverdale Memorial Hall situated in Carlton Town and Horsehouse Village Hall which is situated in Carlton Highdale. o Caldbergh, Carlton Highdale, Carlton Town, Coverham, Melmerby and West Scrafton parishes all currently vote at Coverdale Memorial Hall. • Remove Bellerby from Bolton Castle Ward and include in Leyburn Ward (section 8).

Variance from average 1% 4 Croft • Remove the parish of Uckerby from this proposed ward and include in Electorate (2023) Electorate the Catterick & Brompton-on-Swale Ward (for the reasons stated at 1,528 1,468 section 2). • In relation to the suggestion to create a two-councillor ward combining Electors per Cllr Electors per Cllr Croft and Middleton Tyas (section 11) to enable Moulton parish area to 1,528 1,468 be in the same ward as Middleton Tyas parish our view is that the existing proposal for two single member wards would best serve the Variance from Variance from needs of the local population and would be consistent with the majority average average of the other wards recommended in the draft proposals. At the Warding -4% -8% Patterns consultation round, the Working Group felt that single Member wards are: o Fairer for independent candidates standing in any particular ward; o Better for voters in that there is more clarity when they come to vote and also in that they are clear who their Ward Councillor is.

The sports associations of Variance from Variance from the two villages are linked and community events take place at average average Harmby Village Hall. 1% -3% o These parishes were only separated at the previous review to establish electoral equality and not due to community identity. • Remove Bellerby from Bolton Castle Ward (section 1) and include in this Ward which historically had been included with Leyburn until the last review. o Bellerby is in the catchment area of Leyburn Primary School and Wensleydale Secondary School, which are located in Leyburn. St Matthews Church, Leyburn and St John’s Church, Bellerby form a benefice and are an integral part of the wider community. o The inclusion of this parish also balances the electoral equality requirements.
