The realization of this event contributes to expanding the cultural diversity of ISEA, which is an important aspect of the ISM mandate. Today, we see diversity emerging as a major trend in the international cultural landscape of media arts, as evident in the themes of many international festivals and conferences. ISEA, by its nomadic nature, is uniquely positioned to enlarge the discussions surrounding diversity by creating dynamic worldwide onsite exchanges. Japan is highly regarded as one of the focal points of electronic arts practice. Japanese artists often present their work within the global framework of exhibitions and festivals. While the many significant artistic projects produced in Japan are enjoyed by wide audiences throughout the world, Japan is still a distant place for many people. ISEAZOOB provides the oppomity to invert the practice of exporting Japanese art by bringing the work of artists from afar to Japan, as well as inviting these artists to experience Japanese works within their own cultural context. We hope that ISEA2002 Symposium becomes a gateway to widening the horizons of the Electronic Arts communities in thougout the world. Les nombres, les itérations et boucles, qu’elle mélange et malaxe, modulent les formes, les couleurs, les rythmes comme elle ne pourrait sans doute pas le faire sans eux. Tout en revendiquant un héritage pictural, Anne-Sarah Le Meur cherche les limites de l’image de syn- thèse (l’image 3D peut-elle être plane plutôt qu’ostensiblement tridimensionnelle ? Que produit l’effet graphique du maillage filaire ? Quelle serait l’image 3D la plus élémentaire possible techniquement ? Les phénomènes lumineux de l’espace virtuel peuvent-ils différer de ceux de notre espace concret ? … Le corps de l’artiste influence-t-il encore la création lorsque celle-ci s’enracine dans l’informatique ?). Emerge ainsi un monde imaginaire, abstrait certes, mais vivant, grouillant, étrangement organique, quasi-sensuel. Ses images adoptent diverses formes, fixes ou animées, enregistrées ou génératives, tirages pho- tographiques ou projetées en performance. Sa dernière réalisation, Outre-ronde, propose au spec- tateur d’interagir avec l’image, par le regard, dans un écran cylindrique de 3.5 mètres de diamètre.
