This report consists of an outline of the current relationship of the visual arts and computer science, the report of a feasibility study for a dictionary to be used as a potential bilingual reference tool, a bibliography of over 200 related resources, and related appended materials. The study is described, with special attention given to the nature of the terrOnology, and the typology proposed for its organization. Proposals for short-, medium-, and long-term action are offered. Appended materials include: a reproduced computer-generated graphic; a list of the areas in which computer graphics can be applied; a list of 783 terms constructed form the French-language technical and arts literature; a list of synonyms, abbreviations, and variants; information on the organization of terminology in the plastic arts; a list of terms in the plastic arts; English terminology drawn from computer graphics programs in English; a sample simulated computer graphics vocabulary; a list of resource organizations; a brief article on development of a computer graphics terminology; a list of institutions in Canada, with addresses, where computer arts are taught; and a list of related conferences, workshops, and events. -
