Penulis juga seorang railfans sehingga museum tersebut bahan untuk tugas akhir. Singkat cerita, awalilah sesuatu dari yang anda sukai agar segala sesuatu yang dilakukkannya tidak menjadi sebuah beban. Museum merupakan tempat menyimpan dan menampilkan benda-benda artefak hasil budaya manusia. Sebuah museum yang memiliki koleksi unik tetapi tidak disertai informasi yang sangat lengkap, tentu saja hal tersebut sangat disayangkan. Penulis membuat laporan tugas akhir yang berjudul “Perancangan Sign System pada Museum Kereta Api Ambarawa Semarang” yang bertujuan untuk memudahkan pengunjung museum dan semoga laporan ini juga bermanfaat bagi para pembaca yang ingin membuat dan mengembangkan sign system di suatu kawasan. Selama membuat tugas akhir penulis juga merasakan banyaknya bantuan yang diberikan oleh Tuhan yang Maha Pengasih. Tugas Akhir merupakan salah satu persyaratan kelulusan mahasiswa Indonesia. Penulis juga berlatih menganalisa suatu masalah hingga masalah tersebut diselesaikan dengan cara yang sesuai. Semoga dengan adanya Tugas Akhir ini para pembaca dapat memperoleh pengetahuan mengenai cara merancang sign system lebih lanjut. Hanya satu museum khusus kereta api yang ada di Indonesia. Museum tersebut berlokasi di kota Ambarawa, Semarang, Jawa Tengah. Museum Kereta Api Ambarawa belum mempunyai petunjuk arah dan masih ada benda-benda koleksi bersejarah yang tidak diberikan informasi. Hal inilah yang membuat penulis tertarik untuk membuat sign system Museum Kereta Api Ambarawa. Dalam tugas akhir ini penulis ingin merancang sign sytem untuk Museum Kereta Api Ambarawa. Penulis menggunakan metode observasi, dokumentasi, survei, wawancara dan studi pustaka untuk memperoleh data yang akurat mengenai informasi yang akan dimuat. Proses perancangan sign system ini hanya di area pameran Museum Kereta Api Ambarawa yang terdiri dari : directional sign, identification sign, regulatory sign, orientation sign, dan kerangka pada setiap jenis sign system. Kesimpulan perancangan sign system pada Museum Kereta Api Ambarawa agar pengunjung museum dapat memperoleh informasi benda-benda koleksi dan fasilitas umum Museum Kereta Api Ambarawa dengan mudah. There is only one special museum railway in Indonesia. The museum is located in Ambarawa, Semarang, Central Java. Ambarawa Railway Museum doesn't have directions, and some of the historic objects are not given any information. This is what makes the author interested to make a sign system for Ambarawa Railway Museum. In this final project, the author wants to design a sign sytem for Ambarawa Railway Museum . The author used the methods of observation , surveys , interviews, and literature to obtain accurate data for the informations served. The process of designing sign systems is only done in the exhibition area of Ambarawa Railway Museum which consists of : directional sign, identification sign, regulatory sign, orientation sign, and frames of each type of sign system. The conclusion of designing a sign system for Ambarawa Railway Museum is so that the museum visitors can easily get informations regarding the museum collections and the public facilities of Ambarawa Railway Museum. Pada tahun 1885 Pemerintah Belanda mendirikan perusahaan Semarang Joana Stroomtram Maatschappij (SJS), sebagai perluasan jalur transportasi modern di pulau jawa. Namun seiring dengan kemajuan zaman Kereta Api mulai terpinggirkan oleh transportasi lain yang dapat masuk hingga pelosok desa, hingga akhirnya beberapa jalur Kereta Api harus di tutup, salah satunya Stasiun Kereta Api Wergu Wetan. Melihat sejarah perkeretaapian sangat panjang tersebut sangat disayangkan pengetahuan masyarakat akan sejarah tersebut masih kurang.     Chapter 3 Overview of Each Transport Sector in Central Java Region Chapter 3 Overview of Each Transport Sector in Central Java Region Information and data on the current conditions of each transport sector such as road, bus passenger transport, railway, air transport, and sea port and dry port in and around the Central Java region were collected and reviewed. 3.1 Road Sector As shown in Table 3.1.1, total length of the roads in Indonesia as of 2005 is over 390,000 km, around 80% of which belong to the regions called Kabupaten/Kota. Mode shares of the road are around 90% in passenger transport and 50% in freight transport. Major cities in Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and Bali islands have been interconnected by trunk roads. Moreover, construction of additional toll roads invested by the private sector is in progress, and the total toll roads length has exceeded 600 km. On the other hand, problems such as chronic traffic congestion in urban areas and significant amount of road damages in the regional-level roads have occurred. Enhancements of road maintenance and management capacity of local governments are issues in the decentralized governmental system.
