We have an incredible oppoltunity to improve the lives of

New I3runswickers, but it can only happen if the governmell['s

first priority is S ' lrmdin g u p f o /' P eopl e .

This means guaranteeing that New Brul1swickers who need a family doctor have access to a family doctor. It means ensuring that our seniors aren't forced to make a choice between prescription drugs and the power bill. It means standing up to insurance companies that are tlying to bully New I3runswickers.

And it means standing up for those - our children, our elderly -

who are the most vulnerable. If we are going to stand up for people then we must build a foundation on which to stand. We need to

We need to build better roads. We need to provide businesses Ivith the tools they need to grow. \X1eneed to keep NI3 Power in the hands of New Brunswickers. And we need 10 make sure that the education our young people get loday will help them find a Job tomorrow.

    Go Snowmobiling’ Award for 2012

    NBFSC wins Canadian ‘Go Snowmobiling’ Award for 2012 At the 44 th International Snowmobile Congress the New Brunswick Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (NBFSC) was recognized and awarded as the Canadian winner of the “Go Snowmobiling, Take a Friend “campaign for 2012. All Provinces in Canada and States in the USA were eligible to win respective national awards. The NBFSC were awarded as the best in Canada because of “their total integration of the Go Snowmobiling lifestyle into all aspects of organized snowmobiling in New Brunswick”, announced Ed Klim, President of the International Snowmobiler Manufacturers Association (ISMA) to the Congress’ 500 delegates from Canada, United States, Sweden and Russia. “Go Snowmobiling ” is the brainchild of ISMA and first began in 2008. New Brunswick has participated in and integrated the program into our communications from the very beginning; We have “ Gone Snowmobiling” ever since. In 2008 we partnered with the City of Bathurst’s Tourism Department, Meredith Caissie and local Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Brian Kenny to host our very first “Go Snowmobiling” Ride in New Brunswick. We spent an entire day, beginning with a local breakfast, greetings and a welcome from Bathurst Mayor Stephen Brunet and MLA, Brian Kenny. The Hon. Roland Hache’, Minister of Environment for New Brunswick joined us to ride Bathurst’s snowmobile trails with many community dignitaries that afternoon as we promoted the new message. We hosted two “Go Snowmobiling” rides in 2009. On our first ride we were honored to have the privilege to ride one evening with not only our Minister of Justice, Hon.

Des ministres acadiens clés quittent le cabinet à un an des élections provinciales. Un texte de Catherine Allard Le ministre de la Santé Victor Boudreau, le ministre de la Justice et de la Sécurité publique et de l'Éducation postsecondaire, de la Formation et du Travail Donald Arseneault, ainsi que le ministre de Service Nouveau-Brunswick Ed Doherty quittent le Cabinet. Les trois ministres sortants ont annoncé qu'ils ne se représenteront pas aux prochaines élections provinciales, prévues à l'automne 2018. « J'ai toujours pu être à l'aise avec les décisions que j'ai prises.     community stories February 2010 ISBN #1-55382-433-4 New Brunswick’s “Overcoming Poverty Together” Plan Earns Praise and Creates Hope Introduction Over the past decade, many industrialized countries have begun to address the issue of poverty, recognizing that their social safety nets are no longer adequate to deal with the social and economic complexity of today’s society. Aging populations will place even greater pressures on nations’ resources and will require as many working age individuals as possible to participate in the labour force. In Canada, the move to address poverty has been led by the provinces. Québec was first to pass a law against poverty in 2002. Since then, Newfoundland/Labrador, Ontario, Manitoba, Nova Scotia and, most recently, New Brunswick have announced poverty reduction plans. Community groups in British Columbia, Alberta and the Northwest Territories are putting pressure on their respective governments to follow suit. In New Brunswick, the province’s welfare and minimum wage rates had lagged behind the national average for many years. Groups such as the Common Front for Social Justice and the Business Community Anti-Poverty Initiative (BCAPI), a poverty reduction group operating in Saint John, had urged the government to review social assistance policies and develop a broad-based approach to poverty reduction. Since his September 2006 election, Premier Shawn Graham has committed his government to making the province into a ‘have’ province – independent of federal government equalization payments by 2026. Poverty reduction will be woven into the government’s four main themes: transforming the province’s economy, workforce, relationships and government [Province of New Brunswick 2007].
