Asachi Iași se alătură altor biblioteci pentru care redactarea unei astfel de publicație este o tradiție. Calendarul adună în cuprinsul său datele remarcabile ale anului 2017, aniversări, comemorări, evenimente istorice, care au fost selectate pe baza materialelor de referinţă existente în colecţiile bibliotecii noastre și on-line. Deși ca titlu aceasta se constituie într-o noutate, în ceea ce privește biblioteca noastră, procesul de realizare al ei a demonstrat continuitatea acesteia în cadrul Bibliografiei locale ieșene, multiplele publicații deja realizate în cadrul Biroului Bibliografic servindu-ne ca surse. În realizarea calendarului am avut ca idee centrală raportarea cu prioritate la comunitatea ieșeană, prin actualizarea exemplelor date de personalități marcante ale literaturii, ştiinţei şi artei care au jucat un rol local, național sau universal, fapt dovedit și de produsul final, unde aceste trimiteri se constituie în majoritatea notelor cronologice, la care am adăugat și trimiteri la datele naționale și internaționale, pe baza criteriilor date de relevanța lor la nivelul domeniului în care au excelat și al notorietății, precum și al încadrării duratei la un număr cât mai rotund de ani, față de anul de referință 2017. În acest fel răspundem funcției instituției noastre, de bibliotecă județeană cu colecții enciclopedice. PoliticIt - 1 PoliticIt In November 2011, students at the Huntsman School noticed that the political discussion surrounding the presidential race was evolving from previous elections, as politics shifted from exclusively mainstream media to include blogs, Facebook, and Twitter. But traditional political polling does not capture real-time activity; it is weeks behind what is actually happening. With backgrounds in Management Information Systems, Finance, and Entrepreneurship, these students utilized their Huntsman School education to create a new website called “Politicit”. Using neural network technology, the site gathers information about political candidates from social networks and mainstream media and uses it to give each candidate an “It” score, indicating how people feel about the candidate in real time. So far, the site predicts the poll results remarkably well long before they are published. In December, Politicit entered the Intel Innovators competition, and placed in the top 5. In the future, the team plans to expand the site to also cover state and local politics.
