RABBA SARA HURWITZ & JOSH ABRAHAM - GUESTS OF HONOR

Rabba Sara, a Drisha Scholar originally from South Africa and then Florida, and Josh, an attorney in private practice in Manhattan, originally from Chicago, made the move to Riverdale in 2003 from the Upper West Side when Rabba Sara became the Bayit Congregational Intern. Since receiving ordination from Rabbi Avi Weiss and Rabbi Daniel Sperber in 2009, Rabba Sara continues to serve as the Rabba at the Bayit. Their children, Yonah and Zacharya (8), and Davidi (4), believe that the Bayit is literally an extension of their home! When they are not davening, dancing, singing, hosting, helping, learning, or teaching at the Bayit, Rabba Sara is Dean of Yeshivat Maharat, the first institution to train Orthodox women as spiritual leaders and halakhic authorities and Josh is the Board Chair of the Jewish Disaster Response Corps. Rabba Sara and Josh are so proud and privileged to be celebrating with their extended Bayit family.

RABBI STEVEN EXLER & SHIRA BILLET - GUESTS OF HONOR

Rabbi Steven, a Brandeis and YCT alumnus, moved to Riverdale in July 2008 to join the Bayit, and the last 5 years have been his most fulfilling, enjoying every day of his time as a member of the Bayit's Rabbinic Team. He is blessed to be involved in nearly every facet of Bayit life, and most of all loves simply spending time with members of the Bayit community. Shira, a Princeton alumna, and current graduate student in Religion at Princeton University, joined Rav Steven in marriage - and in Riverdale - in December 2010, and she has quickly become an active Bayit member, taking a leadership role in the revival of the Community Supported Agriculture program, teaching occasional classes at the Bayit, and volunteering on the Kiddush Committee.

ARIELLE BERGER & DANIEL HELD - YOUNG LEADERSHIP AWARD

Arielle moved to Riverdale in 2008 to begin her medical residency in the Bronx. After their wedding in 2009, Daniel dutifully followed and is pursuing a doctorate in Jewish education. Since their arrival, the HIR community has become their, and their daughter Reva's, family and home in New York. Daniel and Arielle have been active members of the shul, serving on the Board of Trustees, leading the teen minyan, establishing the Kiddush Committee and monthly birthday kiddushes.
