Trustees approve Master Plan A comprehensive Master Plan that will help guide Clarion University of facility decisions until the year 2016 has been unanimously approved by the Clarion University Council of Trustees. Trustee Syed R. Ali-Zaidi said the plan will “serve as the comprehensive framework within which specific building and site development decisions, space accommodation strategies, and facility design decisions will be made in the future, with implementation to occur as funding permits.” The plan was developed over three years and included input from students, employees, alumni, and the public. A L U M N I F E A T U R E Disney World trip sparks Brady business Donald Brady ‘69 always knew he wanted to work for himself, but it took a family vacation to Florida’s Walt Disney World more than 20 years ago to help him figure out which business he wanted to pursue. "I always had this little thing in the back of my mind that whatever I did, I wanted to do it myself," said Brady. "The raw material was there, no doubt about it." It was during that 1976 vacation, when Brady’s wife, daughters and in-laws shared two hotel rooms, that Brady realized anyone who could offer accommodations that catered to families and were located near Disney World would make a fortune. Fantasy World Club Villas Today, Brady owns Fantasy World Club Villas, a complex of 302 townhouses and 32 condominiums located near Florida’s most famous resort. The villas each feature two bedrooms, two baths, kitchen facilities and all the amenities of home. Soon after Brady built his units, other developers began following suit. A L U M N I N O T E S Last call for the Clarion State System names Dixon Scholars Mary Beth Hamilton (’93) of Carlisle was recently named a “Dixon University Alumni/ae Directory Scholar.” She is one of five State System of Higher Education graduates currently enrolled at the Widener University School of Law. The five law students are the first to take advantage of a partnership forged last year between the State System and the law school’s Harrisburg Campus. The agreement assures admission to Widener University School of Law of qualified graduates of State System universities. It also allows exceptional State System students to earn their bachelor’s and law degrees in six years, rather than seven. Students selected as Dixon Scholars receive nearly one-third of their law school tuition. The scholarships are renewable for three years, so long as the recipient maintains a cumulative grade average of at least a B-. As many as 56 Dixon Scholars may be selected each year. Students from all 14 State System universities are eligible to participate in the program. The Dixon Scholars program is named for F.
