Trustee Syed R. Ali-Zaidi said the plan will “serve as the comprehensive framework within which specific building and site development decisions, space accommodation strategies, and facility design decisions will be made in the future, with implementation to occur as funding permits.” The plan was developed over three years and included input from students, employees, alumni, and the public. Career and Technical Student Organizations Serving Career and Technical Education Students in Pennsylvania 1 Dear CTSO Leaders, As the leader of a statewide trade association dedicated to the growth and development of the technology industry in Pennsylvania, I am keenly aware of the need for a highly-skilled, well-trained, and motivated workforce. At the Technology Council of Pennsylvania, we are strong advocates for advancements in and the promotion of S.T.E.M. education, as well as career and technical training, in order to prepare our young people to succeed in the 21st Century, global economy. That is why we support the work of Pennsylvania’s Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) and the critical role they play in today’s education community. For nearly 70 years, CTSOs have been able to extend teaching and learning through a variety of targeted programs, public-private partnerships and leadership development initiatives that produce technically advanced, employable students to meet the needs of this country’s diverse employer base. Today, the work of CTSOs has never been more valuable as our economy demands workers with a strong understanding of science, technology, engineering and math concepts as well as hands-on technical expertise. The co-curricular approach of CTSOs uniquely positions these organizations to enhance student skill sets and better prepare them to excel in their chosen careers. In order for Pennsylvania and the United States to not only compete, but succeed on a global stage, we need to ensure that the very technology and innovation companies that are driving this global economy have the availability of a well-qualified workforce. -

Keystone School District Knox, Pennsylvania Regular Work Session Minutes July 19, 2021 OPENING/ATTENDANCE Mr. John R. Slagle, President of the Keystone School District Board of Directors, called the Regular Work Session to order on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 7 P.M. The Meeting was held in the Keystone High School Library, 700 Beatty Avenue, Knox, Pennsylvania. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The following Board Members were present: Mr. Gregory A. Barrett, Mr. Randolph R. Burr, Mr. John R. Slagle, Mr. Dustin L. Swartfager, Mr. Kenneth L. Swartfager, Mrs. Stacey I. Thompson and Mr. Dwayne E. VanTassel. Mr. James A. Beary and Mrs. Trisha D. Dixon were absent. Also present were: Mrs. Kaylan Blair, Mr. Brett English, Mr. Marty English, Mr. Vernon Lauffer, Mr. Michael McCormick, Mrs. Kelli McNaughton, Mr. Rodney Sherman and Mr. Brad Wagner. ANNOUNCEMENTS Mr. Slagle welcomed the guests to the Meeting. Mr. Slagle said there would be an Executive Session held tonight immediately following the Work Session to discuss an Employee Discipline Issue. Mr. Slagle said there would be Superintendent Interviews on July 27, 2021 beginning at 6 P.M. Mr. Slagle said a Special Executive Session will be held to discuss an Employee Discipline Issue on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 7 P.M. in the Elementary School Library. Mr. Slagle said the next scheduled Meeting is the Regular Work Session/Special Business Meeting on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 7 P.M. in the Elementary School Library. River Conservation Plan for the Upper Chartiers Creek Watershed In Accordance With Prepared by: Washington County Watershed Alliance and Chartiers Creek Watershed Association January 2003 Welcome! Purpose The Purpose of the River Conservation Plan The Upper Chartiers Creek River Conservation Plan is an essential first step toward improving and protecting the resources of this area of Washington County. It should not be considered as an end in itself, but as a tool for local and multi-municipal planning to address the problems that are identified. It will be an asset to municipalities and organizations that are seeking funds for projects to implement the recommendations of the plan. The objective of the planning process: complete a plan that is accepted on the Pennsylvania Rivers Conservation Registry. Once the plan is placed on the Registry, implementation activities outlined in the plan are eligible for Keystone Funds, which are administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. This makes the plan a conduit for funding numerous implementation activities, whether for more detailed planning or for construction. Once the plan is on the Registry, all the communities that lie within the Upper Chartiers Creek Watershed are eligible for the granting dollars made available through the Keystone Grant Program. Additionally, other grant programs will be more receptive to funding implementation projects. With an accepted plan approved and placed on the Registry, municipal officials and staff, government agencies, politicians, non-profit organizations, and/or partnerships of these entities can work together to make improvements to the items discussed in the plan. About the River Conservation Plan The River Conservation Plan is a reference guide for decision makers in the Upper Chartiers Creek Watershed. -
