Since it is a reference guide, you are encouraged to refer to it frequently. It will answer most of your questions as well as the questions of your players and their families. Coaches: no matter how long you have been with MSI, please read the Important MSI Rules. New coaches should take time to read the complete manual. If you do not find what you need here, please contact the MSI Office or visit the MSI website. MSI staff will be happy to help you (refer to the list of staff on the inside front cover). This manual is an official publication of the programs and rules of Montgomery Soccer, Incorporated. It supersedes all previously published manuals. MISSION STATEMENT The mission of Montgomery Soccer, Inc. is to promote the game of soccer to the youth of Montgomery County through programs that emphasize each child’s enjoyment, skill development, personal growth, passion for the game and team experience, consistent with the principles of Fair Play and Good Sportsmanship. HISTORY MSI was organized in 1971 by a small group of parents who were interested in seeing their children learn to play and enjoy soccer. Today MSI has grown from a handful of families and their children into a well-organized youth program that attracts more than 14,000 boys and girls during Spring and Fall play. -4- ORGANIZATION AFFILIATIONS MSI is affiliated with two state associations, Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) and the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) for its Premier and Recreation programs (Players in the District of Columbia are officially part of VYSA.) MSI is also affiliated with US Club Soccer for its Classic Program. Both state youth soccer associations are affiliated with the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA or U.S. Youth Soccer), which, in turn, is affiliated with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF or U.S. Soccer), and it, along with US Club Soccer are members of FIFA, soccer's world governing body. MSI OFFICIALS AND THEIR DUTIES ELECTED OFFICIALS The Board of Directors, consisting of the following elected officials, governs MSI: CHAIRMAN As the principal executive officer, the chairman supervises and controls all of the business and affairs authorized by the Board. The chairman also serves as the Chair of the Executive Committee. 1st and 2nd VICE CHAIRS The vice chairs perform duties prescribed by the board or the chairman. In the absence of the chairman, the 1st vice chair is authorized to perform all duties of the chairman. In the absence of both the chairman and the 1st vice chair, the 2nd vice chair is authorized to perform all duties of the chairman. SECRETARY The secretary records all votes and minutes at all meetings of the Board. TREASURER The treasurer is the chief financial officer who has charge and custody of all funds and prepares reports to the Board at least four times a year as well as to the full membership at the Annual General Meeting in January. PARLIAMENTARIAN The Parliamentarian advises the Chairman, other officers, committees, and members on matters of parliamentary procedure. The Parliamentarian is frequently used to assist with procedure during board meetings and the creation or revision of by‐laws. Standing committees are appointed each year by the chairman. The Board has open meetings at least four times a year. The date, time and place of meetings are published on the MSI website. An annual general meeting (AGM) is held once a year in January. Every registered coach receives written notification of the AGM, by email. PAID STAFF MSI employs a staff who handles the day-to-day operation of MSI and who are responsible to the Board of Directors, but do not have voting power. Refer to the inside cover for a list of employees at the time of publication. An updated list is posted on the MSI website. The Director Of Operations oversees the Recreation and Classic programs, including the day to day operations of all Montgomery Soccer leagues and programs. The Director of Player Development oversees the Academy and Premier programs. CLASSIC PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS Classic Liaisons are experienced, Classic coaches or managers with good administrative, technological, communication and problem-solving skills. MSI selects liaisons to serve as the first point of contact for coaches and managers who have questions. They also help coordinate 1-4 conference coordinators in their age group and are proactive about resolving issues. Liaisons attend two meetings per year. Typically, liaisons devote 1-2 hours per week during the season to these tasks. -5- Classic Registrars are skilled volunteers for MSI and US Club Soccer dedicated to registering players and teams for the MSI Classic League. Each team is assigned a specific registrar to handle their team registration. Other Volunteer opportunities are available for coaches, managers and parents to become involved with

    Port Moresby International School Newsletter Issue 6 - May 03, 2019 POST COURIER FEATURES POMIS STUDENTS The Anzac Day special edition of the Post Courier featured 2018 students on the front cover. The picture was taken last year after our students had gone to represent the IEA at the wreath laying ceremony. Their moment of solitude and reflection was caught by a Post Courier photographer. The special also featured the winning essay of the Anzac Day Essay Compe- tition by Catherine Gileng. Catherine won the senior division. Tiare Temu and Bethlemmer Tambua were runners-up in this nationwide competition. The last photograph above shows two of our senior students representing not only POMIS but the IEA at the Anzac Day Commemoration, as we have for a number of years.     2017 Yearbook President’s Report Thank you to everyone associated with the Ashy Redbacks this season. It has been a fantastic year with success on the fi eld, on the training track, and right across the club. It is fantastic to see the positive outcomes in this year’s coaching reviews with all highlighting the development and growth of players from U8 through to our top age Colts and Youth Girls. As a club we had 32 teams representing us this season, 28 in the boys competition and 4 in the girls. We saw the addition of an U13 girls side this year and just missed out on being able to fi eld an U11 girls team. I’m sure that next year with the continued growth of the Women’s AFL competition we will see our girls number increase further in 2018. Congratulations to our Under 15 Green, U12 Green and U10 Black sides who all fi nished 2017 as Premiers of their respective competitions. It was a pleasure to share and celebrate the Grand Final day with you and see the joy on your faces. Premierships are not a goal, they are an outcome of the hard work and dedication that you put in, and for that, you should be proud of your achievements. We will fl y your Premiership fl ags high in the clubrooms in your honour. This year Stephen Karvellas, Rob Ritson, and Thomas Oliver reached 150 games played for the club. This is an amazing achievement and a journey that started many years ago.

    July 2016 Dear Parents & Guardians hank you to everyone who has supported students through their exams, trips, activities or work experience in what is T often the busiest term of all. We have welcomed trips safely back from Morocco, Croatia, around the UK on the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Barcelona and later this week we expect trips home from the Brecon Beacons and the North Coast of France. At the same time we see off the trips to New York, Tanzania and the Gold D of E to Scotland. We are so very lucky to have staff, students and families willing to engage in this vibrant part of life at King Alfred's. The Music and Dance shows were great successes and thank you to all who took part or attended - thoroughly enjoyable evenings were had by all. We also welcomed all of our new Year 6 students and families whilst saying goodbye to our Year 13’s at their Leavers' Ball, and celebrated with Year 11 at their Prom. They were all wonderful evenings and all the staff felt extremely proud of all of our students. We are grateful to the small group of parents who recently offered up their time and attended an evening to review our new website before we move towards the launch.     HenricianDIGITAL EDITION The 2019 PRINCE HENRY’S HIGH SCHOOL An “Outstanding” Academy for Students aged 13-18 A Farewell to Staff Mrs Jenny Parnham Mrs Linda Biggs Mrs Sue Crenan Mrs Anne Price Mrs Crystal Layton Headteacher’s Welcome Mrs Linda Biggs has also announced her retirement at the end of this year. Having initially joined Prince Henry’s as a Teacher of RE in 2001, in recent years she has primarily taught Health and Social Care and PHSE. Having been a member of the school’s pastoral structure since 2007, Mrs Biggs became a Head of Year in 2010 and her compassion, combined with a no-nonsense approach, has hugely benefited the many students whose progress through Years 9 – 11 she has guided. Mrs Sue Crenan will also be retiring after 18 years’ service as a highly valued member of our administration team, most notably as our Library Assistant. Mrs Anne Price, who has been our Reprographics Technician and key part of our First Aid team for the past 18 years, has also decided to retire in August. Finally, it would be remiss of me not to I am delighted to present this latest edition of The mention Mrs Crystal Layton, who retired in September Henrician, which once again acts as a chronicle of school 2018. Having been a student at what was then Prince life, giving an insight into the accomplishments of our Henry’s Grammar School in the 1950s, she worked as a students and their many remarkable achievements. My Science Technician at the school in the 1970s/80s before sincere thanks to all the staff who support our students so returning to us as a Learning Support Assistant in 1994, well.

To note giving our kids the best opportunity to play team sport was the progression in girls footy and the inclusion of for as long as they can.
