BID–NEEDHAM DEPARTMENT BASKETS October 25, 2014 BID–NEEDHAM DEPARTMENT BASKETS October 25, 2014 It is a tradition at BID–Needham that the various departments in the hospital come together to create themed baskets to include in the silent auction at the gala. In addition to caring for patients and completing their day- to-day tasks, our staff has created 13 beautiful baskets. Please see the list below for the basket themes and highlights of their contents. 1. “Wine Enthusiast” by Derenzo Patient Care Unit A red wine drinker’s delight! This basket contains three bottles of Shiraz, one bottle of sweet red, one bottle of Riesling, one bottle of Pink Moscato, one small Merlot, one bottle of Cabernet, a wine rack, wine pourer, a “corksicle,” a wine and cheese book with pairing wheel, a winged cork screw, a cork screw knife, two sets of wine charms, wine preserving pump stoppers, drip foil and foil cutter, fig spread, red pepper jelly, mimosa jam, champagne preserves, two jam/cheese spreaders, four packages of assorted crackers, two packages of Snyder’s pretzels, one jar of assorted Planter’s cocktail nuts, cocktail napkins, and a cheese board. Finally, a dental care pack is included to keep your teeth pearly white after all that red wine! 2. “All About Sports” by Specialty Clinics This basket is any sports fan’s dream and contains two Boston Bruins tickets for Saturday December 13th, a $25 gift certificate to Foot Locker, two footballs, golf balls, hockey pucks, baseballs, a soccer ball, tennis balls, a basketball, sports towels, two water bottles, a duffle bag, two tennis racquets, a New England Patriots hat, a Boston Bruins hat, hand and toe warmers to keep warm at fall and winter games, and a framed sports figures photo signed by LeRoy Neiman and Billie Jean King. 3. “It’s a Dog’s Life” by Patient Access Don’t forget to pamper your pup after your exciting night out on the town tonight! This basket comes with a coffee mug (to carry on your chilly morning walks!), a picture frame to show off your furry friend, a collapsible coffee mug, a waste receptacle, wheat free dog treats, a tug rope toy, and a dog brush, dog shampoo and pet towel to keep Fido looking fresh! 4. “Kids Dream BIG” by Volunteer Services Grab this now before the snow days arrive! This basket contains indoor activities to keep any kid busy for hours, including two Lego sets, two fleece throw blankets, stuffed animals, a blue star bucket, crayons, markers, coloring books, floor puzzles, and a “Fuzzdoodle” game. BID–NEEDHAM DEPARTMENT BASKETS October 25, 2014 5. “New Year’s Eve At-Home Party” by Finance Skip the lines at the local clubs and restaurants and party like a rock-star at home this New Year’s Eve! This basket contains all the essentials for a fun evening without any fuss and includes a bottle of Dom Perignon champagne, Chicago Swing assortment package, Godiva ultimate dessert truffles, set of four crystalline champagne flutes, New Year’s Eve party supply kit, Winco 4-quart wine bucket, Sleepless in Seattle DVD, Harry and David Moose Munch, Stonewall Kitchen Sugar Plum jam, Farmer’s Fair milk chocolate pretzels, Ferro wafer rolls, Harvest Sweets dark chocolate covered raisons and sea salt cashews, Harvest Sweets dark chocolate covered blueberries and almonds, Tuscan Crisps cracker pepper and herb crackers, and two bottles of sparkling cider for those driving home! 6. “No Working During Drinking Hours” by Laboratory Tequila fans unite! This basket contains all your essentials for relaxing nights and home and some date nights out on the town! Cash Bar Non-profit organizations that request to have a cash bar will need to purchase a Special Events Liquor License from the Able Commission. But she can’t pinpoint what year. And a few towns over, Leonard Cohen, owner of San Luis Obispo’s La Esquina Taqueria, is so sure of the year that he named their “skinny” margarita the “Original 1941,” after it. Sometime, somewhere, someone invented the margarita. But your best guess as to when and where, or who dreamed up this delightfully tart and satisfying drink, is just about as good as anyone’s. It’s a classic refreshment with sweet and sour roots stretching as far back as the late 1930s — at least according to some.
