Dear Friends in Christ:

Welcome to the Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. We keep all who are affected in any way by the COVID-19 pandemic in our prayers and we are grateful for the generous and compassionate hearts of all those in our medical community who sacrifice daily to care for us.

On Wednesday, March 18, 2020, Bishop John Quinn announced the suspension of all public Masses here in the Diocese of Winona-Rochester through Friday, May 15, 2020. Find his message here: https://www.dowr.org/ alerts.html.

The Emergency Declaration for our county and the resulting message from Bishop Quinn speak to our need to be responsible for each other. This calls for severe measures to reduce/limit the consequences of COVID-19. We have an opportunity to learn new ways to share life and accompany one another and we begin by acknowledging the fact that reality is telling us to stop and listen. We are not spared the painful circumstances that people have endured through our salvation history; we are living a challenging crisis and the Lord Jesus proposes Himself. We live this time trusting in the presence of Christ. We have not been abandoned.

Please be assured of my prayer for you every day as I recall all of you in celebrating the Eucharist privately. Be open to the way Christ wants to speak to us and how Christ desires to teach you and me in the desert time of discovering the depth of His face here and now.
