Id : [email protected] DESKTOP When a computer is switched on, booting process will start, after the completion of booting process you can saw a screen is called desktop. Desktop is the first screen when computer is turned on. Desktop has icons, mouse pointer, and taskbar. WINDOWS-10 DESKTOP TASKBAR Taskbar: The rectangular bar that runs horizontally across the bottom of the screen is called taskbar. It provides access to all programs, it include start button, time, etc. You can also switch one program to another program here by using the task bar. Task bar also has quick launch it allows you to open frequently used programs quickly. DEFAULT DESKTOP ICONS Icons are small graphical images that can represent computer programs, files, folders. To activate the icon you double click on it with the left mouse button. The standard icons in windows operating system includes- This PC Network Recycle Bin Documents folder, etc. RECYCLE BIN The files removed by the user in the computer will go to this Recycle bin. Do you want to remove the files permanently from the computer then select ―deletea‖ option in the recycle bin. If you want to get back files from recycle bin to the original location where the file is actually deleted, then select ―restorea‖ option from the recycle bin. THIS PC /MY COMPUTER This is a standard icon and is very useful; it contains all the resources available in your computer. Generally it consists of hard disk drives, removable storage devices, network drives, and user documents and shared documents folder of your computer. To open My Computer window then double-click THIS PC icon on the desktop. MY DOCUMENTS My Documents is the commonly recognized name of a special folder in Microsoft Windows and the actual name of the folder might be different when the language of the installed copy of Windows is not English. This folder is supposed to be a personal area where users store their personal non-shared documents Pictures, Music, Videos PICTURES Sometimes abbreviated as pic, a picture is a visual capture of an object. Pictures can be created using devices such as a Digital camera, Scanner, Smartphone, or art works of art created on the computer. If a visual object is made on the computer and not captured by another device, It may be called a Clip art, Graphic, Illustration, Render, or Screenshot. MUSIC Music is any organized collection of sounds. Ways to listen to music on a computer Searching YouTube for your favorite artists or songs. Listening to streaming audio through a service like Pandora or an online radio station. Opening an MP3, WMV, or other audio file in a media player. Placing an audio CD into a computer and using a media player such as Windows Media Player to listen to it. VIDEO In general, a video or video clip is a series of electronic signals used to generate a steady source of still images, which simulate movement. Videos can utilize graphics, pictures, or text, and are used for Entertainment, Education or other purposes. Today, many web pages have downloadable or streaming video that visitors can watch on their computer. VIDEO Over the history of computers there have been many different video file formats that can be used for videos. Below is a list of some of the popular types of video files. .MP4 .WMV .AVI .MOV .3GP .WebM .FLV CONTROL PANEL The Control Panel is a section of Microsoft Windows that enables a user to change various computer hardware and software settings. The Control Panel contains the following options: Appearance and Themes, Printer and other Hardware, Network and Internet connections, User accounts, Add or Remove Programs, Date, Time, languages, and Regional options, Sounds, Speech, and Audio devices, etc. Control Panel Category to open the Control Panel to open the Control Panel in Windows 10, and to change it to display with the Category, Large icons, or Small icons view. Open All Apps in the Start menu . 2 Click on the Windows System folder to expand it open. 3 Click on Control Panel. Open Control Panel from Search 1 Click on Search box at Taskbar. 2 Type Control Panel into the search box. 3 When Control Panel is found and selected in the top left pane, press Enter or click on it. Open Control Panel from Run 1 Press the Win + R keys to open Run. 2 Type control into the Run dialog box, and either click on OK or press Enter.
