The pandemic has stopped so much over the past 11 months, and whilst we can see the light at the end of the tunnel with vaccines protecting hundreds more people every minute, COVID-19 is sadly still with us. Our annual conference is a firm fixture in the Conservative political calendar here in Cheshire and Wirral – and the North West – and we haven’t let the pandemic stop us from organising this year’s event and raising money to support campaigning across the Area. At last year’s conference we raised over £8,000 which has been used to support campaigning projects across the Area. We’ve also raised money via Zoom events including speakers, online quizzes and a virtual Christmas Party, and would like to thank members for their support over what has been an extraordinary and unexpected year. This year’s annual conference comes as we prepare for a bumper set of elections in May. We face crucial local elections in Halton, Warrington and Wirral, as well as Police and Crime Commissioner elections in Cheshire and Merseyside, Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor elections in Halton and Wirral, and local by-elections across the Area. Our local associations have been working hard to ensure we field candidates and engage with voters via Connect calling and digital campaigning, but we need your help right across the Area, so please get involved where you can. Whilst the pandemic has meant our Conference has gone online, I trust you will find the same great content that members have come to expect over the past nine years, with guest speakers on both days, interactive presentations and panel sessions, and a brilliant raffle to raise funds to support campaigning. Thank you once again for supporting CW21. The Area team hope you enjoy the Conference and trust that we will have succeeded in delivering an informative and interesting event. With best wishes, THE CONSERVATIVE FOUNDATION YOUR LEGACY – THE COUNTRY’S FUTURE Every year, supporters leave us gifts in their wills. The majority we won in 2019 is their legacy. What will your legacy be? It’s no secret that the Conservative Party has always relied on the generous support of its members. But that’s just the start. To go the extra mile, to win the majority that no one expected, we need lasting financial security. This takes long-term planning – and long-term funding. That’s why the Conservative Foundation was set up a decade ago. The Conservative Foundation provides the party with lasting financial security. Funded entirely through gifts left by supporters in their wills. Every gift, no matter how large or small, helps us win elections. And every gift is ring-fenced, so you can rest assured that your money will always be retained as capital, only the income is distributed, to be used solely for the benefit of the Conservative Party. The money helps provide means-tested bursaries for candidates who qualify for assistance. At the last election, the majority of candidates we gave bursaries to won their seats. At the next election, that could be the difference between a Conservative and a Labour government. But there’s much more to do. So if you want to help secure the future of this country, then why not get in touch? Just see overleaf or call 020 7984 8037. • Conservatives Response to EVAW
Sarah Green Director End Violence Against Women 104 China Works Black Prince Road London SE1 7SJ 5 December 2019 Dear Ms Green, Thank you for your letter to the Prime Minister of 15 November, to which I am responding on behalf of the Conservative Party. It was very good of you to write and to share EVAW’s thoughts ahead of the general election. We are proud of the action we have taken in Government since 2010 to tackle violence against women and girls, including by committing over £100 million over five years to support our Ending Violence Against Women and Girls strategy. We have strengthened the law by introducing new offences for coercive and controlling behaviour, stalking, forced marriage and FGM, and have made ‘revenge porn’ a specific criminal offence. As you will know, in March we published our refreshed Ending Violence Against Women and Girls strategy in order to provide further support to victims and survivors, and in September we announced £5 million more to support rape and sexual assault victims in 2020-21, funding a range of services including tailored face-to-face support and counselling. Our general election manifesto builds on the progress we have made so far and includes major new commitments to tackle VAWG. These include: • a further boost of £15 million next year to ensure justice for rape victims, to ensure speedier charging decisions, more funding for rape crisis centres, and even more funding for Independent Sexual Violence Advisers; • support all victims of domestic abuse by passing the Domestic Abuse Bill to ensure,

One of my proudest achievements here has been the LGBT+ Conservatives Candidates’ Fund, which has supported so many people into parliament and raised tens of thousands of pounds. As the fund matures it is moving into a new governance structure, and I hope to play a role in that future. I am thrilled to be succeeded by Elena Bunbury. I know that she will bring new energy to the organisation, and I hope it will continue to thrive under her leadership. I am so grateful to everyone who has supported me on this journey. In particular Emma Warman, Matthew Green and John Cope who have provided wise counsel as Deputy Chairman. To Sean Anstee who has transformed the finances of the organisation.
