Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 2019 Game Notes Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 2019 game notes Sunday, April 28th at 2:05 PM Contact: Mike Lindskog John Thurman Field Game #24, Road Game #17 [email protected] Modesto, CA Rancho Cucamonga QuakeS (14-9) AT Modesto Nuts (11-12) RHP Gerardo Carrillo (1-1, 4.11 ERA) vs. LHP Nick Wells (1-2, 9.56 ERA) TODAY’S GAME: The Quakes wrap up their seven-game road trip, with the final game of the three-game series at John Thurman STANDINGS Field against the Modesto Nuts (Seattle Mariners’ affiliate) on Sunday afternoon. The Quakes are 4-2 through the first six games of the trip and return home on Monday night, opening a four-game set against the Lake Elsinore Storm at LoanMart Field. NORTH W L PCT GB VS MODESTO: This is the third of nine head-to-head meetings between the two clubs and the last game of the only visit to John Visalia 18 5 .783 - Thurman Field in 2019. In 2018, the Quakes went 3-0 at John Thurman Field in their only visit, but finished at just 5-5 overall vs. the Modesto 11 12 .478 7.0 Nuts. The Quakes have now won five straight at “JTF” dating back to last year. Their last loss in Modesto was August 10th, 2017. San Jose 8 15 .348 10.0 Stockton 8 15 .348 10.0 LAST GAME: One night after coming from four runs back, the Quakes nearly let a four-run lead slip away, but ultimately held off a late Modesto rally for a 4-3 win at John Thurman Field on Saturday night. Austin Hamilton entered the game in the eighth and pro- tected the lead, then worked around a leadoff hit in the ninth to record his first career save as a Quake. Wes Helsabeck (2-0) earned SOUTH W L PCT GB Rancho Cucamonga the win with two innings of scoreless relief. Connor Wong led the way offensively with three extra-base hits, including a two-run 14 9 .609 - Lake Elsinore 11 12 .478 3.0 homer, his team-leading fifth of the year. Modesto starter Austin Hutchison (0-4) took the loss. Rancho starter Bryan Warzek pitched Lancaster 11 12 .478 3.0 into the fifth before being removed, scattering three hits and three walks, while striking out five over four scoreless. Inland Empire 11 12 .478 3.0 WONG GETTING HOT: After batting just .148 through his first 14 games, Connor Wong has hit safely over his last three contests, collecting six hits to raise his average to .219 overall. Last night’s three-hit game was his best of the season, as he doubled twice and went deep for his team-best fifth of the year. He trails Devin Mann by two RBIs for the team lead, with 13 on the year. CAL LEAGUE SCOREBOARD STEALING IS NOT A FELONY: Rancho Cucamonga swiped a season-best eight stolen bases in Thursday’s loss to Inland Empire, Yesterday tying a franchise record that was set in 1995 against the High Desert Mavericks. Jeter Downs stole a season-high three and Brayan Stockton 5 at San Jose 3 Morales stole two more to give him a league-high 15 on the year. It’s the fourth time that Morales has stolen multiple bases in a single Visalia 8 at Lancaster 10 game this year. The Quakes lead the California League with 51 stolen bases in just 23 games so far. Visalia is next in line, with 36. Inland Empire 6 at Lake Elsinore 2 BATS COMING AROUND: The Quakes collected just 18 hits over their four games in Inland Empire. In Friday’s win over Modesto, Rancho Cucamonga 4 at Modesto 3 Rancho compiled a season-high 15 hits in the win over the Nuts. Thanks to 22 hits over the first two games of this series, Rancho has raised their team batting average eight points, to .224, now fifth in the league. After setting a franchise record for home runs last season with 202, the Quakes have only smacked 18 homers over their first 23 games, which is fourth in the California League. TODAY RANCHO ARMS: The offense isn’t off to a great start, but the pitching has been just fine. Rancho’s team ERA is 3.50 and although Stockton at San Jose, 1:00 PM that’s just fourth in the league, that would have led the league in 2018, when the Quakes finished second in the circuit with a 3.77 Inland Empire at Lake Elsinore, 1:00 PM ERA. The Quakes also lead the league in punch-outs this season, fanning 278 batters so far. Visalia at Lancaster, 2:05 PM ROAD WARRIORS: The Quakes’ win last night in Modesto makes them 4-2 on the current trip and an incredible 12-4 on the road Rancho Cucamonga at Modesto, 2:05 PM this year. Twice this year, the team has won four straight on the road. Last season, Rancho won a franchise-best 42 regular season games away from LoanMart Field, as well as three out of four in the playoffs. Two straight in this series gives them another series win too, making it four out of five on the road with the only “non-win” being a four-game split in San Bernardino earlier this week. • Healthy Air Program Moving Into the Valley Alerts Abandoned in Favor of Taking Charge by KEN CARLSON Modesto Bee, Saturday, July 5, 2008
Healthy Air program moving into the valley Alerts abandoned in favor of taking charge By KEN CARLSON Modesto Bee, Saturday, July 5, 2008 On summer days when smog shrouded the Northern San Joaquin Valley, air quality officials released "Spare the Air" alerts to urge individuals and businesses to take measures to reduce the pollution. Spare the Air is no more. It has been replaced by the Healthy Air Living program in the eight- county San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District. Instead of just reacting to bad air days, the new program urges people to do things year-round to clean the air. The program kicks off Sunday with Healthy Air Living Week in the San Joaquin Valley air basin, with activities planned from Stockton to Bakersfield to showcase what people can do to reduce air pollution. The district is sponsoring the Modesto Nuts game Sunday night at John Thurman Field. The main event in Modesto will be a bicycle commute on McHenry Avenue between 7 and 9 a.m. Wednesday. People riding their bikes to work can first gather at the Fun Sport Bikes store in McHenry Village shopping center for refreshments and to enter a drawing. They will then ride downtown on McHenry with a police escort. Also Wednesday, a conference will be held at the University of California at Merced, focusing on the development of electric cars, fuel cells and other clean energy technology. Air district officials say they nixed Spare the Air because the program focused on one-day pollution episodes and didn't produce the permanent changes in behavior needed to improve air quality.

NAMING RIGHTS: The stadium was originally named Pilot Field. In 1995, the stadium was renamed North AmeriCare Park. In 1998, Dunn Tire Corp. took over the remaining eight years and $2.5 million on the naming rights contract with the City of Buffalo. Thus, the stadium was renamed Dunn Tire Park. Then in 2008, the Bisons agreed to a ten-year naming rights deal with the Coca-Cola Company. In 2018, a similar deal was signed with Sahlen Packing Company through 2028. © Copyright 2019, National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School Page 1 Team: Charlotte Knights Affiliate: Chicago White Sox (1999) Principal Owner: Don Beaver & Bill Allen Team Value: As of 2016, 47.5 million (Revenue: 17.0 million Operating Income : 5.0 million) Team Website TWITTER: @KnightsBaseball Stadium: BB&T Ballpark Date Built: 2014 Facility Cost ($/Mil): $54 Facility Financing: The City of Charlotte funded $7.25 million through hotel taxes, Center City Partners funded $725,000, Mecklenburg County funded $8 million, and private investors funded the rest.
