Singapore, 26 September 2016 – Golden Village brings the best of international and local movies to the heartlands once again with plans to open a new cinema at Bedok. Located at the redeveloped Princess Theatre, the new cinema will have six movie screens and approximately 600 seats.

Owned by Overseas Movie (Pte) Ltd, the Princess Theatre Building has been undergoing redevelopment in order to better service the Bedok community. Easily accessible via bus and MRT, the four-storey building is surrounded by food and beverage outlets, groceries, banks and a gym. It is a stone’s throw

away from the Bedok Community Library and hawker centres. The redevelopment project is estimated to be worth around $30 million and will be completed by the first quarter 2018.

With the tagline ‘A New Spark’, Princess Theatre aims to bring a fun and invigorating vibe to the East. The mall will play a complementary role in the revitalised Bedok estate with an exciting array of tenants such as restaurants, cyber sports cafe and karaoke bars. Mall-goers can also look forward to enjoying Princess Theatre’s extended operating hours, which are longer than a typical heartland mall. The redeveloped Princess Theatre will feature eye-catching greenery along its facade to enhance the Bedok streetscape and also a communal rooftop garden.

Says Tony Teo, Consultant, Overseas Movie (Pte) Ltd, “The redevelopment of Princess Theatre Building is part of the emerging new face of Bedok—vibrant and buzzing with life. Apart from the GV cinema, residents can look forward to a myriad of entertainment, dining and shopping options right at the heart of the estate that they call home.”

Says Golden Village’s Chief Executive Officer, Clara Cheo, “Over the years, residents of Bedok have been asking for a cinema. When we were presented with such an opportunity with the redevelopment project of Princess Theatre, we seized it. Apart from a wide variety of exciting, not-to-be missed blockbusters and compelling alternative content, residents in Bedok can look forward to an unparalleled level of comfort, convenience and value at our new cinema.”
