Sant Jagnade Maharaj Jayanti : 8th December 2019 Shri Santaji Jagnade (1624–1688) was one of fourteen cymbal players employed by Shri Tukaram Maharaja, a prominent Marathi Sant. Sant Jagnade Maharaj recorded several of Tukaram's Abhangs. His birth anniversary was celebrated in the library. Vice Principal Prof. A. S. Oke, Prof. R. B. Barmukh, Librarian Dr. S. S. It will also take into account the slow growth in Indian English drama in pre-independence and post-independence times. The second chapter- Portrayal of Political Power in Girish Karnad’s plays will analyze the portrayal of political power as a force in the play affects functioning of all the systems.     Weekly BeeBooster 16th Dec to 22nd Dec 2019 Finance and Banking SBI inks $277 million pact with Germany based KfW bank to develop energy-efficient housing programme State Bank of India (SBI) has signed a loan agreement worth of $277 million (about Rs 1,958 crore) with Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) German development bank for establishing an energy-efficient housing programme in India. • The arrangement of the loan and the grant facilities was facilitated by SBI's investment banking subsidiary SBI Capital Markets Ltd. • The financial cooperation pact has been signed between the Government of India and the Government of Germany. • In addition to this loan, KfW will also extend a grant of 1.5 million euros (about Rs 12 crore) as a technical assistance package. The technical assistance funds shall be used for supporting SBI in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the programme. • Under the programme, both builders and homebuyers shall be financed for developing/purchasing energy-efficient residential projects that achieve at least 25 per cent energy savings in comparison to standard reference buildings. BSE inks cyber-security agreement BSE has signed a pact with security services provider Si Consult to strengthen cyber security services and safeguard the interests of stockbrokers. • The market regulator SEBI in December 2018 put in place a stricter cyber security framework for stock brokers and depository participants amid concerns over possible data breaches. • SEBI had asked brokers and depository participants to formulate a comprehensive cyber security and cyber resilience policy document encompassing the framework. HDFC Bank crosses $100 billion market capitalisation HDFC Bank has become the 3rd Indian firm to cross $100 billion mark in market capitalisation.

    Sculpting a Play Sudhanva Deshpande Mala Hashmi as Dadi ( grandmother) It happens inevitably. Whenever I mention that a play has been improvised, people tend to imagine that it is improvised in performance and they cannot believe that, because what they have seen seems like the performance of a fully-finished text. Even after I explain that 'improvisation' is only the technique one has used to evolve the play, a feeling of slight disbelief persists. It may have to do with the fact that the word 'improvisation', along with its near cousin `impromptu', carries connotations of something unplanned, unstructured, unorganized. Improvisations are, of course, all that, also pretty often chaotic, but it is possible to use this chaos to evolve texts. Through the maze of confusion, through the pulls and pressures every actor and director exerts on nebulous, barely-visible ideas, through false starts, speed-breakers, and dead 1 ends, through all this it is yet possible to create texts that are complex, multi-layered, sophisticated, and dramatic. I say this on the evidence of two plays that Jana Natya Manch (Janam) evolved in 1995, Artanaad ('A Cry of Anguish', a play on child sexual abuse) and Andhera Aftaab Mangega ('Darkness Will Beget the Dawn', in rough translation; a play on the lives of the working class in Delhi). I describe below the process we used to evolve Andhera. (I do realize, of course, that 'improvisation' has become something of a catchword in theatre, nearly a fashion, especially since the 1960s: everybody seems to be improvising. People from very different cultural and social worlds have a great love for Indian popular cinema, and many have been Hindi Films fans for over fifty years. Indian cinema is world – famous for the staggering amount of films it produces: the number is constantly on the increase, and recent sources estimate that a total output of some 800 films a year are made in different cities including Madrass , Bangalore , Calcutta and Hyderabad . Of this astonishing number, those films made in Bombay, in a seamless blend of Hindi and Urdu, have the widest distribution within India and Internationally. The two sister languages are spoken in six northern states and understood by over 500 million people on the Indian sub – continent alone – reason enough for Hindi and Urdu to be chosen above the fourteen official Indian languages to become the languages of Indian Popular cinema when sound came to the Indian Silver screen in 1931 .
