Drink in the Spirit of Butte. COCKTAIL MENU At the turn of the twentieth century, America was booming and the future was bright. The Industrial Revolution was pushing technology forward, powered by steam and ingenuity. Railroads crossed the continent, connecting people and resources as never before. A network of wires began to weave its way throughout the country, with electric signals and power humming through thousands of miles of copper. In 2010, John and Courtney McKee founded Headframe Spirits in celebration of Butte’s spirit. Standing on the confluence of four lodes of ore, in one of the city’s historic buildings, our company operates with the deepest respect for the history of Butte and the legacy of the mines and the people who worked there. Just as the miners would share an evening together after a hard day’s work, today we share holidays, celebrations and everyday moments with those closest to us. We invite you to share in the joy and appreciate being able to continue our story with you. John & Courtney McKee “The better each of us does, the better we all do together.” To learn more about our story, watch our video from the 'Under The Big Sky Series.’ bit.ly/hfutbs Menu We take our martinis very seriously at Headframe. Please feel free to pick from the High Ore Vodka, Destroying Angel Whiskey or the Anselmo Gin as the base for your martini. If you’re not sure which you’d prefer, ask your bartender for a suggestion. As dirty, or not, as you like. Delicious like a Mule & bold like a martini, it’s the best of both worlds. Ask for this one with any of our clear or brown spirits. A ginger & chocolate martini that is a fraction sweet & a fraction tart. A balanced concoction with just the right bite. Named after one of the many mines of Walkerville, it’s an uptown treat. A dirty martini with Kalamata Olives. A floral martini with hibiscus water, syrup & an edible hibiscus flower garnish. Served with a pearl onion. Inspired by our friends at Plonk—muddled basil, ginger-peppercorn simple syrup & citrus. Read the story of how the GFC came to be on the back of this page. A flavorful yet dry martini with a hint of lemon, refreshing basil & savory pepper. Tastes like liquid summer. Not everyone will fall in love with a Gin Manhattan but for those who dare, a whirlwind romance awaits. We reached west (two miles from Butte city proper) to reinspire a New York classic. FROM PLONK! Do you know what GFC stands for? If not, ask your bartender! John and Courtney have been huge fans of Plonk since the first time they went in. In fact, Plonk was proof of concept for them that people in Montana do love opportunities for well-crafted, unique cocktails. They have dear friends in Bozeman who introduced them to Plonk and would visit every chance they had, ordering many of Plonk’s unique cocktails and sharing them around the table. Many great memories and stories were created for the McKees and friends at Plonk. The same friends who introduced the McKees to Plonk fell in love with their GFC—it was their favorite thing on Plonk’s cocktail menu. On weekends when these friends would come to Butte from Bozeman, they would grab all the ingredients they could think of and try to recreate Plonk’s wonderful concoction. The McKees failed over and over again to recreate it, but many great things came as a result. First, their attempts eventually yielded Headframe’s version of the GFC. Second, even more great stories and memories were made. If you haven’t yet had a chance to visit Plonk, Headframe highly recommends the trip. You can visit their original location in Bozeman or their second location in Missoula. Both are right in the heart of downtown. BOURBON WHISKEY The Neversweat got her name because she was nice and cool inside. As she grew deeper, the name was more and more ironic as her temperatures rose to over 100 degrees. The Neversweat was an iconic figure on Butte’s land- scape, announced by her seven stacks. The story goes, upon arriving to America, speaking no English at all, miners would be put on a train to Butte based on a note pinned to their coats saying, “Send me to the Seven Stacks of Neversweat.” Neversweat with rocks, a boulder, neat, or any of our mixers. Special! A spicy version of pie à la mode. Huckleberries are extremely rare but are native to our region. They’re part of what makes Montana special, just like the folks who share our passion for Butte. We raise a glass of this beautifully balanced cocktail just to you. With or without a splash of Orphan Girl - ask your server! Like an Italian Lavender Cream Soda, but boozier! Floral, creamy & a little bubbly! A refreshing cocktail with orange juice, ginger beer & a splash of grenadine. As lovely to enjoy as the sun lighting up the sky on a beautiful Butte morning. A classic bourbon martini served up or on the rocks with a bordeaux cherry garnish. Pineapple & orange juice compliment this lovely Neversweat cocktail with a dash of bitters to brighten it up. The Pawnbroker mine was located directly underneath Headframe’s building on Montana Street &, like the Neversweat itself, this cocktail is an homage to our foundation. Bourbon, house-made sour mix, garnished with a bordeaux cherry. Make it a House Whiskey Sour with our Earl Grey-infused bourbon! A Headframe Bartender Special, so popular it made the jump from Drink of the Week to a regular menu item. A little boozy, a little fruity & certain to delight. Our house-made citrus & mint infused iced tea, dressed up. Can’t decide? Ask your bartender for a sampler. B CORPORATION! The organization has become a beacon in communicating the values of becoming a Certified B Corporation® and how its organization can improve the business climate by using business as an agent for change, promoting positive values, and ultimately transforming the definition of success from “being the best IN the world” to “being the best FOR the world.” Headframe Spirits hopes to inspire the business community to join us in our efforts to redefine corporate practices and elevate business life in Montana! Vodka The High Ore Mine got its name from the high quality copper it produced. Similarly, our High Ore Vodka is made to be clean and pure—the perfect start to a wonderful cocktail. High Ore with rocks, a boulder, neat, or any of our mixers. Served with all the trimmings, salted or not. Need we say more? Fresh muddled basil with our house-made lemonade. Meet your new summer love. High Ore Vodka, coconut water & lime juice. Jim & Dandy were two of the Butte fire department’s horses in the late 1800’s. In 1895, Dandy perished in a fire in the old warehouse district in Butte. Jim & Dandy made a great team & gave their lives in service to the community. Like Jim & Dandy, huckleberry & lavender make a great team—especially when dressed up with a little citrus love. For the kid in you—a Shirley Temple, but boozy. A mint twist on the traditional cocktail. Vodka, our house-made Apple Pie & cranberry juice, topped with ginger ale. We take you all the way up to Walkerville for this GFC inspired cocktail. Infusions of citrus, pineapple & basil, served over ice. Just like when you were a kid, only boozy & not on a stick. Availability based on rhubarb; worth the wait! If there’s something you’d like that isn’t on the menu, please ask. Our bartenders aim to please. Gin Stretching 4301 feet straight down, the Anselmo began as a zinc mine and later became a copper mine. The Anselmo is one of the best preserved mine yards in Butte. Our Anselmo Gin is a complex mixture of botanicals. We moved away from the traditional, intense juniper to see what other flavors we could bring out. We hope you enjoy the fruits of our efforts! Anselmo with rocks, a boulder, neat, or any of our mixers. Sweet & tart & creamy & fantastic. Try grapefruit, peach, rhubarb, cherry, lemon or orange bitters.
