Adult Literacy Program Monterey County Library service offers one-on-one tutoring to adults over 16 years of age, not presently enrolled in a public school system. The program is free, individualized and confidential to all English speakers in Monterey County, offering both daytime and evening instructions. Monterey County Health Department Teen Parenting Program Case management nurses provide case management to pregnant teens (ages 15-19) with infants (ages 0-12 months). This program targets high risk zip code areas in Salinas (93905, 93906 and 93901) as well as South County (Chualar, Soledad, Gonzales, Greenfield, King City, San Lucas and San Ardo). Program goals include (but aren’t limited to) educating teenage clients about pregnancy, delivery and postpartum periods, normal child development, encouraging attachment via reading and appropriate play with child, health education related to infant and toddler care, SIDS and Safe Sleeping education, birth control methods/STD prevention and importance of continuing their education.

A Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health: Medically Fragile Infants, First Time Moms, Infant and Child Growth and Development, High Risk Pregnancy, Perinatal Depression and Pregnant or Parenting Teens

B Children or Adults who are at Risk of Medical Compromise. Children under 21 may have one diagnosis and adults (over 18) should have two or more diagnoses. This may be according to the client’s own history.
