DIO Hands Over Technical Support Accommodation at RAF Lossiemouth
DIO hands over technical support accommodation at RAF Lossiemouth The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has handed over a new airside annexe as part of a project to support the relocation of three squadrons of Typhoon aircraft from RAF Leuchars to RAF Lossiemouth. The new annexe to Hangar 3 houses operations briefing rooms, mission planning, changing rooms, aircrew lockers, equipment servicing space and the aircraft line operations. It is also home to the engineering ground crew and support trades. Since 2012, DIO has delivered around £87 million of work at RAF Lossiemouth, including refurbishing Hangar 1, and refurbishing and extending the annexe accommodation for 6 Squadron, refurbishing Hangar 3 and providing interim accommodation for 1 (Fighter) Squadron and building a high quality Quick Reaction Alert. By using a staged approach, the works package was able to provide both interim and permanent operational and engineering support facilities for both 6 Squadron and 1 (Fighter) Squadron on their arrivals at RAF Lossiemouth in March 2014 and September 2014. Duncan Taylor, the DIO Project Manager, said: “This is a great example of DIO investing in the infrastructure our Armed Forces need to live, train and deploy. It was a real team effort and our contractor Turners worked closely with us to ensure a very high quality of work. The pace of construction and quality of the end product reflected excellent project management, and stakeholder and contractor communications." Wing Commander Chantal Baker, Officer Commanding Base Support Wing, said: “The programme of infrastructure works at RAF Lossiemouth has been essential to the transition of the Station from a Tornado to Typhoon main operating base delivering Quick Reaction Alert. -

The Noise and Vibration Division was tasked by to carry out a Noise Amelioration Scheme (Military) assessment of aircraft activity at RAF Leuchars. 2. RAF Leuchars is home to two Typhoon squadrons as well as No 6 Force Protection Wing Headquarters, 58 Squadron RAF Regiment, Air Transportable Surgical Squadron, 71 Engineer Regiment, the East of Scotland Universities Air Squadron and Number 12 Air Experience Flight. 3. In addition to Typhoon aircraft, RAF Leuchars also has Tutor aircraft and a number of visiting aircraft including fast jets such as Tornado GR4 and Hawk. 4. Average Daily Movement numbers were calculated from Air Traffic Control movement logs for the period 1 Feb 11 to 31 Jan 12 5. Using the Federal Aviation Administration’s Integrated Noise Model, 16-hour LAeq noise contours were produced. -

List of Royal Canadian Air Force stations - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Page 1 of 16 List of Royal Canadian Air Force stations From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This is a list of stations operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), or stations where RCAF units existed, from 1924 until unification into the Canadian Forces on February 1, 1968. Some of the RCAF stations listed in this article link to facility descriptions containing the prefix "CFB" (Canadian Forces Base) or "CFS" (Canadian Forces Station). These facilities were at one time RCAF stations, but changed to CFBs or CFSs following unification of the Canadian Armed Forces in 1968. Most former RCAF stations still in use by the Canadian Forces are now operated by Air Command (AIRCOM). During the 1990s, most AIRCOM squadrons on Canadian Forces Bases were reorganized into "wings" as the primary lodger unit. Consequently, many Canadian Forces Bases used as air force bases are frequently referred to without the prefix CFB, e.g., "CFB Shearwater" is also referred to as "12 Wing Shearwater", with 12 Wing being the primary lodger unit at CFB Shearwater. All RCAF facilities followed the naming tradition of the Royal Air Force, whereby the prefix RCAF (vs. RAF) was affixed.
