Applications may be inspected free of charge at the Office of the Traffic Commissioner in Leeds by any person who carries written authorisation to act in that capacity. Objections against published applications may be made in writing by a Chief Officer of Police, a local authority, a planning authority or a prescribed trade union or association within 21 days of the date on which notice of an application is published in Applications and Decisions. Objections must be made either on the grounds that any of the requirements listed in Section 13 of the Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995 are not met and/or that a nominated operating centre will be unsuitable for use as such. A copy of the objection must be sent by the objector to the applicant at the same time that it is sent to the Traffic Commissioner. The onus of proof in terms of the grounds on which an objection is lodged lies with the objector. You may fax a copy of your objection to 0113 2488521 but please note that you must send the original signed document through the post. Classification of Operator Licences – There are three classes of licence: • A Restricted (R) licence authorises the use of a goods vehicle on public roads in Great Britain for the carriage of the licence holder’s own goods in the course of his trade or business. The licence holder cannot carry goods for other people for hire or reward; • A Standard National (SN) licence allows the licence holder to carry both his own goods and goods for other people for hire or reward, on public roads in Great Britain. He can also carry his own goods on journeys abroad; • A Standard International (SI) licence allows the licence holder to carry both his own goods and goods for other people for hire or reward. These activities can be undertaken both in Great Britain and on international journeys. Over the past six years there has been a systematic planned programme of capital maintenance carried out on the A4124. Table 1 shows the percentage of the road network that has been subject to planned programme of capital maintenance.     JOURNAL OF THE ENGLISH PLACE-NAME SOCIETY Volume 43 (2011) ISSN 1351–3095 ______________________________________________________________ The Black Country David Horovitz (pp. 25–34) ______________________________________________________________ This article is from the Journal of the English Place-Name Society, an annual peer-reviewed journal issued free to members of the Society. The Journal welcomes contributions of articles and notes on subjects of relevance to English place-names. The English Place-Name Society (EPNS) was established in 1923 to conduct a county-by-county survey of the place-names of England. To date, the Survey has produced 90 volumes. Almost all English counties have been surveyed, at least in part, and work to complete the Survey is ongoing. The Survey is used by researchers, academics, and those interested in the origins, meaning, and significance of English place-names. The research work and the publication of the Survey are financed by the annual subscriptions of members of the Society, with the help of grants from the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy. Since the progress and success of the Survey depend largely upon the strength of the membership, the Society always welcomes new members, both personal and institutional. In return for the annual subscription, members receive free of charge the current issue of the Journal as well as the volume of the Survey allocated to that year’s subscription. They are entitled to order, in addition, any available volume of the Survey at a concessionary price. Associate Members pay a reduced subscription, for which they receive the Journal. Route Summary Distance: Can be variable, full one way distance is 3 A gentle paddle to Chasewater Park, an opportunity to miles but it is intended to be a two way trip maybe with stop for a picnic and take in the picturesque countryside. a picnic at Chasewater. Approximate Time: 1-2 Hours This trail uses the Anglesey branch of the Wyrley & The time has been estimated based on you travelling 3 – 5mph Essington canal. The canal was built in 1798 as a culvert (a leisurely pace using a recreational type of boat). to supply water from Norton Pool canal feeder reservoir Type of Trail: Out and Back (later known Chasewater) to the Wyrley & Essington Canal. In 1850 it was made navigable to tap into traffic Waterways Travelled: Wyrley & Essington Canal from local coal mines. Coal was loaded into boats at (Anglesey branch) Anglesey Wharf until 1967 and the remains of the loading Type of Water: Urban and rural canal chutes can still be seen. Above Anglesey Basin is the stone faced dam for Chasewater that is a country park Portages and Locks: None and where there is a sailing, water skiing & power Nearest Town: Walsall boating centre. Boating activity is limited to club use and Start and finish: Brownhills Canoe Centre, Silver there is no canoeing for safety reasons.
