Curling By:Jessica Schultz What is Curling? Curling is a sport that consists of four team mates the lead, the second, the third, and lastly the skip. These players work together to get the most rocks in the opponent's house. It is a sport played on ice with heavy rock stones that slide across the ice to score points. Curling also known as the Roaring Game was first made an Olympic sport in 1924 for men only, but curling was dropped for awhile and brought back in 1932. This sport has competition for professionals all over the world. Curling has grown a lot since 1924, men, women and both can play on their own teams now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rznyjs - l 1d g This is a video of the best shots in this years Scotties Tournament of Hearts. How it started The team sport curling originally started in Scotland in the early sixteenth century. Curling is one of the world’s oldest team sports, curling was played back then on frozen lochs and ponds for people to play on during the winter. They used solid granite stones for rocks to slide across the ice and score points. Some of the earliest curling clubs were from Scotland dating back to 1838. One of the better developments in the 20th-century was making adjustments to sliders and better indoor ice facilities. Curling has improved so much over the years and has been very appreciated by the world. How to play How you play curling is kinda simple. Curling consists of four players the lead, the skip, the second and third each get two rocks.
