Brown, Advisor Between 1984 and 1991, heavy metal became one of the most publicly popular and commercially successful rock music subgenres. The focus of this dissertation is to explore the following research questions: How did the subculture of heavy metal music between 1984 and 1991 evolve and what meanings can be derived from this ongoing process? How did the contextual circumstances surrounding heavy metal music during this period impact the performative choices exhibited by artists, and from a position of retrospection, what lasting significance does this particular era of heavy metal merit today? A textual analysis of metal- related materials fostered the development of themes relating to the selective choices made and performances enacted by metal artists. These themes were then considered in terms of gender, sexuality, race, and age constructions as well as the ongoing negotiations of the metal artist within multiple performative realms. Occurring at the juncture of art and commerce, heavy metal music is a purposeful construction. Metal musicians made performative choices for serving particular aims, be it fame, wealth, or art. These same individuals worked within a greater system of influence. Metal bands were the contracted employees of record labels whose own corporate aims needed to be recognized.

Genre/Influences: Dark-electro. Content: The previous work I heard of Larva never totally convinced me. The dark-electronics of this Spanish formation were missing some substance and especially some cohesion. After an album released on Danse Macabre they got back to Advoxya Records releasing their 4th official album to date. This new work remains a pure dark-electro composition, which simply can be defined as ‘hell-electro’. The inspiration clearly comes from a band like Suicide Commando. The originality inside Larva is far to find, but when a band appears to be an efficient emulator of a leading name of the scene I think no one will start to complain. And that’s precisely what this album is all about. From start to finish you easily can recognize the Suicide Commando-input which appears in the dark sequences and icy melodies. Both debut songs are captivating and promising . Some calmer pieces are awakening spirits of the late 90s electro generation, but here again Larva is a quite efficient copier. The 2nd part of the album is a tiny less interesting as the songs now become quieter and more into haunting atmospheres .

    1 THE COLLECTED POEMS OF HENRIK IBSEN Translated by John Northam 2 PREFACE With the exception of a relatively small number of pieces, Ibsen’s copious output as a poet has been little regarded, even in Norway. The English-reading public has been denied access to the whole corpus. That is regrettable, because in it can be traced interesting developments, in style, material and ideas related to the later prose works, and there are several poems, witty, moving, thought provoking, that are attractive in their own right. The earliest poems, written in Grimstad, where Ibsen worked as an assistant to the local apothecary, are what one would expect of a novice. Resignation, Doubt and Hope, Moonlight Voyage on the Sea are, as their titles suggest, exercises in the conventional, introverted melancholy of the unrecognised young poet. Moonlight Mood, To the Star express a yearning for the typically ethereal, unattainable beloved. In The Giant Oak and To Hungary Ibsen exhorts Norway and Hungary to resist the actual and immediate threat of Prussian aggression, but does so in the entirely conventional imagery of the heroic Viking past. From early on, however, signs begin to appear of a more personal and immediate engagement with real life. There is, for instance, a telling juxtaposition of two poems, each of them inspired by a female visitation. It is Over is undeviatingly an exercise in romantic glamour: the poet, wandering by moonlight mid the ruins of a great palace, is visited by the wraith of the noble lady once its occupant; whereupon the ruins are restored to their old splendour.

Visage Ease is a powerful tool for patient education at the bedside. Compared to printed film or patient CDs, Visage Ease provides much richer and more efficient means of communication. Note that the intended use for Visage Ease is only image display for illustration and educational purpose and not diagnosis. It must not be used as a medical device. Connecting. Start Visage Ease and enter the address of the Visage 7 Server, user name and password. Use the same user credentials as for logging in with the Visage 7 Client. If you do not know the login details, please contact your system administrator. Press “Connect” to connect to the Visage 7 Server. If you switch on “Remember password”, Visage Ease remembers your password for future log ins. Consider using the Passcode lock or similar methods compliant with your local IT policies to prevent unauthorized access to your mobile device. Searching. After logging in, Visage Ease shows a list of search presets. Select one of the predefined searches, e.g. “All Studies”, to display a list of all studies accessible to you on the Visage 7 Server.
