(603) 542 -2157 www.jp2academynh.org Confident Submission to Jesus Drive away...fear that God has abandoned you. No...Jesus loves you, and with a love of preference. You must not worry if he has not yet satisfied you. Often Jesus does not immediately grant what is asked of him; this does not mean he ceases to love you; rather he is granting you other graces which you don’t even know about. At any rate, you must suffer delays peacefully, without decreasing that filial confidence and that submission to his most holy will...that are so pleasing to Jesus. The voice of God requires from you simplicity, trust, and submission. Beg the Holy Spirit; entreat him to fill your poor heart with his divine grace. Jesus wants you to lower yourself and become small, because he grants his graces to the humble. Remember that the littlest ones are the most beloved of Jesus. When you feel so afflicted and abandoned, don’t become discouraged but remember that the God of consolations is near you, as is Jesus who has loved you so much as to die for your love, and who is watching you with a gentle and fatherly look of love; the Holy Spirit, the true Consoler of souls, is near you; that there is a more than motherly Providence who cares for you, who loves you very much. I ardently desire that your heart will be consoled by these thoughts. —Blessed Clelia Merloni Blessed Clelia Merloni († 1930) founded the Congregation of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart MAKE THIS THE BEST LENT EVER! JOIN US FOR BISHOP ROBERT BARRON’S SEVEN DEADLY SINS, SEVEN LIVELY VIRTUES Examine the great spiritual blocks that inhibit our flourishing in relationship with God and one another.... Join us this Lent at John Paul II Academy to explore Bishop Robert Barron’s engaging presentation concerning the seven deadly sins, those great spiritual blocks that inhibit our flourishing in relationship with God and one another. Based on Dante’s writings, the seven deadly sins correspond to the seven stories of Dante’s Mt. Purgatory. Pride, envy, anger, sloth, gluttony, avarice and lust are all presented as patterns of dysfunction within us that lead to unhappiness. Bishop Barron shows us how to counteract these seven sinful patterns through a conscious process of opposition, which are the “seven lively virtues." The seven lively virtues offer antidotes to each sin and help set us on the right path to healing and happiness. Forms to sign up are available in the back of the church or by calling the Academy at 542-2157. For more information, email Juanita at [email protected]. She was drawn to the order’s charism by observing that the sisters were “women of the heart, that their way of loving just imbued everything that they did.” The sense of a child’s belonging in a classroom and school is affirmed by being taught “from the heart,” Sister Kathryn said. Whatever subject is be- ing discussed “can touch their heart and can make a difference in their life. And so for me, teaching these students is also like, in some ways, teaching their parents,” teaching the students’ future children, “teaching their grandchildren.” And that could include her no-non- Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Blessed sense example of gently reprimanding a mischievous student who playfully soared a paper airplane through the By Beatification of Foundress classroom, as one youngster did when CNY visited Sister Kathryn’s fifth- By CHRISTIE L.

These letters have been grouped according to the following themes: “The Spiritual Life”, “Like You”, and “Searching for Holiness”. Alongside each letter are quotes by various authors that link Mother Clelia’s eloquent words to the reality of your life today. The call to be better each every day leads us on the search for holiness because each and every person is personally touched by the gift of God to make progress along this path of love. Starting from this conviction in her own life, Mother Clelia, by her example and her writings, confirmed that we take one step at a time on the path toward holiness. It is the journey of a lifetime and it must be constant. It was a fun and faith-filled way for the Catholic youths and young adults to honor God and conclude the 31st biennial national conference. Bishop Christopher J. Coyne, apostolic administrator of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and host of the conference, asked the teenagers, collegians and adults attending the closing Mass to text, e-mail or tweet the words “Called to Glory,” the conference theme, to family members and friends throughout the U.S. at the conclusion of the vibrant liturgy. Murmurs began to spread through the quiet football stadium when Bishop Coyne surprised the conference participants by asking them to turn on their cell phones at the end of Mass. “For over two hours now, we have turned this space into a holy place where holy people have listened to holy words and done holy things and received holy gifts,” Bishop Coyne said.
