Wynonna Earp’s Evenhuis Covers Overstreet #50 First Time for Wynonna on the Cover of the Guide

Hunt Valley, Maryland – Beau Smith’s Wynonna Earp, the demon hunter, descendant of famous lawman Wyatt Earp, and star of both her own graphic novels from IDW Publishing and SyFy’s TV series, is the first western character to be featured on the cover of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide, which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary. Regular Wynonna Earp artist Chris Evenhuis also makes his Overstreet debut with this edition of The Bible of serious comic book collectors, dealers, and historians.

This cover will be offered in the April 2020 PREVIEWS from Diamond Comic Distributors in both soft cover ($29.95 SRP) and hardcover ($37.50) editions. The Wynonna Earp cover will be exclusively available in comic book shops (and from the Gemstone website for those who don’t live near a comic shop).

A seamless mixture of fantasy and horror in a Western motif, Wynonna Earp features the heroine and her allies battling demons and other supernatural foes. Originally introduced in 1996, Wynonna Earp’s popularity has skyrocketed in the last four years, bolstered by the television show based on the comic book, and new graphic novels penned by Smith. The Guide cover by Evenhuis brings together the comic and TV show by featuring characters who appear in both mediums.

Evenhuis joins a deep roster of top comic book talents who have provided covers for the Guide over its five decades. Joe Kubert, Will Eisner, Carl Barks, Wally Wood, Alex Schomburg, C.C. Beck, Murphy Anderson, George Pérez, Mark Chiarello, Darwyn Cooke, Amanda Conner, Walter Simonson, Adam Hughes, J. Scott Campbell, and Ryan Sook are among the luminaries who have illustrated the top characters in comics on Overstreet covers.

The Bible of serious comic book collectors, dealers, and historians since it was first published in 1970, The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide is released each July by Gemstone Publishing. Compiled by founder Robert M. Overstreet with contributions from an extensive roster of Overstreet Advisors, the Guide offers insight into the complex and exciting comic book market. In addition to new prices, this edition includes new feature articles, new additions to the Overstreet Hall of Fame, and dozens of new market reports.

Both the soft cover and hardcover editions of Evenhuis’ Wynonna Earp cover will join the other editions of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #50 when they go on sale in the comic book market on Wednesday, July 22. The April PREVIEWS will be online at PreviewsWorld.com on Friday, March 20, and the print version will be in comic shops on Wednesday, March 25.

Last week Gemstone Publishing announced the Spider-Man/Spawn crossover Guide cover by acclaimed Spider-Man artist and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane. Additional covers will be announced in coming days. They will join The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #1 Facsimile Edition and Overstreet @ 50: Five Decades of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide as part of 2020’s year-long celebration of the Guide’s rich history.

About Beau Smith Beau Smith has worked in senior marketing positions for Eclipse Comics, Todd McFarlane Productions, and IDW, and as a writer for DC, Image, and IDW. As a writer, he’s worked on the biggest brands in the world including Star Wars, Spawn, and Batman. He’s best known as the creator of Wynonna Earp, which moved from the pages of an IDW comic book to TV screens on Syfy and Netflix in 2016.
