HONG KONG 2 March, 2016: The distinguished heritage of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited (HSH) reaches a new milestone today as HSH celebrates its 150th anniversary. Originally incorporated on 2 March 1866 as The Hongkong Hotel Company, Limited, HSH was one of the first companies to be listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and is currently the oldest registered company on the Hong Kong Companies Registry. For a century and a half, the compelling story of HSH has been closely tied to its city of origin, Hong Kong. Whilst evolving to meet the changing times at home and abroad, HSH has never lost respect for its past and its heritage, and it continually strives to emulate the standards of service and style that earned it the accolade of “The Far East’s leading hotel company”. The concept of “Tradition well served” remains fundamental to HSH’s approach. “Tradition is taking account of a wonderful history, but remembering that everybody today looks to the future. It is important not to forget that the future is built on the past, and we have a great legacy,” said The Hon. Sir Michael Kadoorie, Chairman of HSH. “We believe that our rich history gives us a fuller understanding of our shared identity, culture and values, enabling us to manage change responsibly, to safeguard the best of the past and to keep innovating to meet the demands of the next generation.” Today, the HSH legacy encompasses a diverse portfolio of assets worth HK$44.2 billion1 including ten Peninsula Hotels around the world, The Peak Tram, The Peak Tower and The Repulse Bay Complex in Hong Kong.

  • When Is the Best Time to Go to Hong Kong?
Page 1 of 98 Chris’ Copyrights @ 2011 When Is The Best Time To Go To Hong Kong? Winter Season (December - March) is the most relaxing and comfortable time to go to Hong Kong but besides the weather, there's little else to do since the "Sale Season" occurs during Summer. There are some sales during Christmas & Chinese New Year but 90% of the clothes are for winter. Hong Kong can get very foggy during winter, as such, visit to the Peak is a hit-or-miss affair. A foggy bird's eye view of HK isn't really nice. Summer Season (May - October) is similar to Manila's weather, very hot but moving around in Hong Kong can get extra uncomfortable because of the high humidity which gives the "sticky" feeling. Hong Kong's rainy season also falls on their summer, July & August has the highest rainfall count and the typhoons also arrive in these months. The Sale / Shopping Festival is from the start of July to the start of September. If the sky is clear, the view from the Peak is great. Avoid going to Hong Kong when there are large-scale exhibitions or ongoing tournaments like the Hong Kong Sevens Rugby Tournament because hotel prices will be significantly higher. CUSTOMS & DUTY FREE ALLOWANCES & RESTRICTIONS • Currency - No restrictions • Tobacco - 19 cigarettes or 1 cigar or 25 grams of other manufactured tobacco • Liquor - 1 bottle of wine or spirits • Perfume - 60ml of perfume & 250 ml of eau de toilette • Cameras - No restrictions • Film - Reasonable for personal use • Gifts - Reasonable amount • Agricultural Items - Refer to consulate Note: • If arriving from Macau, duty-free imports for Macau residents are limited to half the above cigarette, cigar & tobacco allowance • Aircraft crew & passengers in direct transit via Hong Kong are limited to 20 cigarettes or 57 grams of pipe tobacco.

  • Or Bus 15 from Central MTR) to the Peak
The Opening of Hong Kong for the Preaching of the Gospel Take the Peak Tram (or Bus 15 from Central MTR) to the Peak. It lets you out into the Peak Tower shopping center. Go up one level, and walk outside to the area between the Peak Tower and the Peak Galleria shopping centers where there is an old green trolley car on display. Turn right, cross the street to the old stone restaurant called “The Peak Lookout” and take the road that starts just on the right side of the restaurant. Walk about 200 yards until you see a small waterfall on the right side of the path (about a 10 minute walk). Stop there briefly and read the following history of the dedication of Hong Kong for the preaching of the gospel. In 1949, President George Albert Smith commissioned Apostle Matthew Cowley to bless the land of Hong Kong to the preaching of the gospel, even though all of China was dedicated in 1921 by David O. McKay, an apostle at the time. A new mission had been formed with Hilton Robertson as the mission president and Henry Aki as a counselor. Elder Cowley, President Robertson, Brother Aki, and their wives, along with Brother Aki’s mother, went to the peak for this event. In a moment, you can walk to the exact spot where the dedication occurred and read some journal entries about the event, but this is how the exact spot was discovered. W. Brent Hardy served as a missionary in Hong Kong during the 50s.

  • Top Things to Do in Hong Kong" City of the Future, Hong Kong Boasts a Blend of Beautiful Mountain Parks and Vibrant Modern Architecture
"Top Things To Do in Hong Kong" City of the future, Hong Kong boasts a blend of beautiful mountain parks and vibrant modern architecture. Busy, bustling, yet always charismatic, Hong Kong is Asia's ultimate city sensation. Gecreëerd door : Cityseeker 10 Locaties in uw favorieten Victoria Peak "Hong Kong's Top Tourist Stop" At a height of 552 meters (1,811 feet), Victoria Peak is Hong Kong's highest point and one of the most visited of the island's many attractions. The Peak, as it is locally known, boasts spectacular views of the city's skyline, backed by the bustling Victoria Harbour. By night, the view transforms into a glittering sea of vibrant lights. A walk around the Peak by Daniel Case reveals views over the greener Western parts of Hong Kong Island, and a visit to the viewing platforms at the Peak Tower and Peak Galleria is a must. It is a steep climb to the top, and while hikers are welcome, an inexpensive tram is also available. The oldest funicular in Asia, the Peak Tram is over 125 years old. With a steep ascent, the tram links Central to the Peak Tower. The Peak is also known for its lovely gardens, most notably that of the old governor’s summer lodge with its faux-Victorian design. Once there, you're likely to see birds, butterflies, and giant dragonflies as well. www.hk-victoria-peak.com/ [email protected] 1 Lugard Road, Hong Kong Big Buddha "Bronzen Boeddha" Ondanks dat dit vrij ver is van het centrum van Hong Kong (een tochtje met een ferry en een soms wat enge busrit) is het de moeite van een bezoek zeker waard.
