Trampolines, slip and slide, tie-dye t-shirts, and inflatables all entertained students. Sodexho provided a cookolt dinner of haMblrgers and hot dogs. There were also plenty of watermelons for fWn and BSessy eating. I^Y 19 Student Life Friends Mister together to beat each other's s core during Bowling Night. Every Wednesday students flock to the lanes to take the week's rlstrations olt on the pins. Student Life Bowling Over 200 sttUdents showed Wp to bowl the night away at the first bowling event, later forMing "teaMs" to control who got which lanes and when. Ml Student Life Loyalty Day Fayetteville coMMunity Members started olt Loyalty Day with a breakfast in the Green and Gold Cafe, where they were greeted by cheerleaders and entertained by student singers 1 ViFCeVi Student Life Loyalty Day Methodist asks businesses and local citizens for contributions each year on Loyalty Day, which was held on Feb. 1 2, 2008. It is a day of support that IMlakes a lifetime of difference for the 85 percent of students at Methodist who reqlire financial aid. The evening incltSJded gambling, MHUsic, and an oxygen bar. * 24 Student Life Casino Night Stldents were given fake Money to spend at falx gambling tables with gaMes slch as poker, blackjack and roSJlette. Faculty and staff volunteers ran the gaMing tables. Afterward, gabblers coEHd exchange their winnings for real prizes. &!MI!LATe 2^ Before any hoMe gaSSe begins, the Monarch Zone provides ITUn and food for everyone to enjoy. The cheerleaders and the band often perforlMI before going into the gaMe, and different ciUbs sell foods or rln gaMe stalls to raise Money. Student Life \ih f'.'d •"" Monarch Zone I— The Monarch Zone was a new tradition started this year. It was held in the parking lot beside Berns. Each one was different, bit always included food, gaSMIes, and the fUn and exciting atmosphere of a pre-galMle tailgate party. Student Life Winter Exam ExaM Breakfast is a late-night tradition at WQ3, where stldents can take a break, relax, and iWel Ip on healthy breakfast foods in the Green and Gold Cafe before starting the stress and craMMing of exams week. 28 Student Life Winter Exam Breakfast ExalMI Breakfast is also a way for faculty and staff to show how Mich they care abolt students, who don't have to lift a finger at the Meal. Faculty and staff don aprons and chefs hats, grab soSMJe tongs and serve all the food, as well as carry trays, get refills and offer seconds to the seated tables. IViCJHES 29 L- Student Life Oktoberfest Oktoberfest is RHA's annual Fall event. This year's activities were centered aroHUnd a Halloween theMe, with a costHJIMSe contest and a JMMMIy wrapping contest. 30 Student Life Oktoberfest Stldents also participated in pie eating and hula- hoop contests, played carnival gaSSes. IMIade sand art, and enjoyed the IMMsic, food and prizes on the outdoor basketball courts. iMWES Student Life Dance Competition Students showed off their dance skills in a night of lights, MQOsic, and food. The winner of the dance competition was given a $100 prize. Thirty students competed with arolnd three MinSJtes each to dance.The competition ended in a draw and the winners split the prize. Student Life Dance Competition ASMIanda Inderwood and Michael Price tied for first place in the competition. When asked how they woUUld spend the prize Money, both winners shotted. "We're going to the cllb!" 1SCAUTY 33 Student Life Operation Christmas Child Operation Christmas Child gives people a chance to reach out to the Millions of children across the world who woUJJld normally not have any presents for ChristMas. Presents were brought to the drop- off point at MW, loaded into a trick, and taken to Raleigh. Mi Casita catered a free fajita bar for stldents. 36 Student Life Fiesta Night After filling Wp on fajitas, chips and salsa, stldents danced to Latin Mlsic and took swings at pinatas filled with Money, candy and toys. More than 300 stldents attended Fiesta Night. !Y-&0£NO 37 Student Life Back to Childhood Student Life Back to Childhood What better way to shake off pre-exaiMI stress than by going Back to Childhood? The Stl dent Aetivities CoMMittee invited sUUdents for an evening of old-school galMIes like Twister, Red Rover and Mlsical Chairs in Berns the week before Winter exaMs started. Students planted flowers and cleared vegetation aroUUnd calMIpls.They also began repairs on the handicap access raMp oltside the Berns Student Center.The work done helped improve 1UCH handicapped accessibility on caMpWs. Student Life Womanless Beauty Pageant When six Male Methodist stldents took the stage dressed in short skirts and low-clt tops to dance to Shania Twain's "Man! I Feel Like a WoMan!" the popular cofflJntry song took on a whole new Meaning. The blrly beaHJty pageant contestants played it all for lalghs in the Berns Stldent Center, along with coMedian Jen Kober, the evening's MC.
