ACTION’ FEATURES MORE THAN 30 ACTION MOVIE FAVORITES ON THE BIG SCREEN April 19–July 7, 2019 Astoria, New York, April 16, 2019—Museum of the Moving Image presents See It Big! Action, a major screening series featuring more than 30 action films, from April 19 through July 7, 2019. Programmed by Curator of Film Eric Hynes and Reverse Shot editors Jeff Reichert and Michael Koresky, the series opens with cinematic swashbucklers and continues with movies from around the world featuring white- knuckle chase sequences and thrilling stuntwork. It highlights work from some of the form's greatest practitioners, including John Woo, Michael Mann, Steven Spielberg, Akira Kurosawa, Kathryn Bigelow, Jackie Chan, and much more. As the curators note, “In a sense, all movies are ’action’ movies; cinema is movement and light, after all. Since nearly the very beginning, spectacle and stunt work have been essential parts of the form. There is nothing quite like watching physical feats, pulse-pounding drama, and epic confrontations on a large screen alongside other astonished moviegoers. See It Big! Action offers up some of our favorites of the genre.” In all, 32 films will be shown, many of them in 35mm prints. Among the highlights are two classic Technicolor swashbucklers, Michael Curtiz’s The Adventures of Robin Hood and Jacques Tourneur’s Anne of the Indies (April 20); Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai (April 21); back-to-back screenings of Mad Max: Fury Road and Aliens on Mother’s Day (May 12); all six Mission: Impossible films -

SERENA SIMPSON Production Sound Mixer Member IATSE 479 Serena Simpson is one of very few women Production Sound Mixers, still to this day. She takes great pride in her job and work ethic and has worked her way up through the business at an impressive clip. She got her start in the entertainment industry working in Commercial dialogue editing and Sound design. She then played a vital role in the start up of a successful Atlanta audiobook company. Her work in those Audio and Advertising related fields earned her two Telly Awards and an Audie before she transitioned to location Sound Mixing. Serena now does Commercials occasionally as Sound Mixer but now primarily works in Television and Features. She enjoys the different paces of the two formats and schedules and her versatility and experience allows her to adapt quickly to any logistical obstacles. Serena’s enthusiasm, calm and easy going personality and enjoyment of her work are always appreciated by Directors and Producers. When not on set, you can find Serena tending to her mini farm and family in Atlanta, Georgia. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MUSEUM OF THE MOVING IMAGE PRESENTS COMPREHENSIVE TERRENCE MALICK RETROSPECTIVE Moments of Grace: The Collected Terrence Malick includes all of his features, some alternate versions, and a preview screening of his new film A Hidden Life November 15–December 8, 2019 Astoria, New York, November 12, 2019—In celebration of Terrence Malick’s new film, the deeply spiritual, achingly ethical, and politically resonant A Hidden Life, Museum of the Moving Image presents the comprehensive retrospective Moments of Grace: The Collected Terrence Malick, from November 15 through December 8. The films in the series span a period of nearly 50 years, opening with Malick’s 1970s breakthroughs Badlands (1973) and Days of Heaven (1978), through his career-revival masterworks The Thin Red Line (1998) and The New World (2005), and continuing with his 21st- century films—from Cannes Palme d’Or winner The Tree of Life (2011); the trio of To the Wonder (2012), Knight of Cups (2015), and Song to Song (2017); and sole documentary project Voyage of Time (2016)—through to this year’s A Hidden Life. Two of these films will be presented in alternate versions—Voyage of Time and The New World—a testament to Malick’s ambitious and exploratory approach to editing. In addition to Malick’s own feature films, the series includes Pocket Money (1972), an ambling buddy comedy with Lee Marvin and Paul Newman, which he wrote (but did not direct), and Thy Kingdom Come (2018), the documentary featurette shot on the set of To the Wonder by photographer Eugene Richards. -

Springer PAGES: 66 Adapting graphic novels requires new approaches in the theoretical models currently available to film theorists. Comic book films must be dissected beyond references to character, setting, plot, or story; analysis must consider the choice of plot and story within or outside a preexisting canon, the exclusion or inclusion of thematic elements, and the fidelity of visual narrative. The intertextual variability intensifies when considering comic book films and new methodologies are required for a proper examination of this genre. Using the works of comics scholars (McCloud, Eisner, and Ewert, et al), the studies of film theorists (Andrew, Wager, Ryan, Bordwell, et al) and graphic novels from highly regarded authors and artists (Miller, Moore, et al) new modes of adaptation emerge as specifically designed both for the comic book film and a greater understanding of visual narrative. iii Acknowledgements In the winter of my sophomore year of college I was told by a friend to read Watchmen and The Dark Knight Returns. -

Revenue is also the most important and intuitionistic feedback to producers, directors and actors. Therefore it is worth for us to put effort on analyzing what factors correlate to revenue, so that producers, directors and actors know how to get higher revenue on next movie by focusing on most correlated factors. Our project focuses on anaylzing all kinds of factors that correlated to revenue, for example, genres, elements in the movie, popularity, release month, runtime, vote average, vote count on website and cast etc. After analysis, we can clearly know what are the crucial factors to a movie's revenue and our analysis can be used as a guide for people shooting movies who want to earn higher renveue for their next movie. They can focus on those most correlated factors, for example, shooting specific genre and hire some actors who have higher average revenue. Reasrch Question: Various factors blend together to create a high revenue for movie, but what are the most important aspect contribute to higher revenue?
