Email: [email protected] Received 26 July 2008; accepted 14 September 2008 Abstract: The 12-year period from 1967 to 1978 was a period of intense ornithological activity in Iran. The Ornithology Unit in the Department of the Environment carried out numerous surveys throughout the country; several important international ornithological expeditions visited Iran and subsequently published their findings, and a number of resident and visiting bird-watchers kept detailed records of their observations and submitted these to the Ornithology Unit. These activities added greatly to our knowledge of the status and distribution of birds in Iran, and produced many records of birds which had rarely if ever been recorded in Iran before. This paper gives details of all records known to the author of 92 species that were recorded as rarities in Iran during the 12-year period under review. These include 18 species that had not previously been recorded in Iran, a further 67 species that were recorded on fewer than 13 occasions, and seven slightly commoner species for which there were very few records prior to 1967. All records of four distinctive subspecies are also included. The 29 species that were known from Iran prior to 1967 but not recorded during the period under review are listed in an Appendix. This study aimed to define current provision, identify gaps and suggest practical solutions for improving eye health services in this area. Methods: The World Health Organization (WHO) framework for analyzing health systems has several key components: service delivery, health workforce, information system, medical products and technologies, financing, and governance. We used this structure to investigate the strengths and weaknesses of the eye health system in Varamin. All public and private eye care facilities and a random selection of primary health care (PHC) units were assessed using semi-structured researcher-administered questionnaires. Results: Varamin has 16 ophthalmic clinics, including two secondary hospitals that provide cataract surgery. There were ten ophthalmologists (1:68,000 population), two ophthalmic nurses and five optometrists working in Varamin district. There were no eye care social or community workers, ophthalmic counsellors, low vision rehabilitation staff. Although the Vision 2020 target for ophthalmologists has been met, numbers of other eye care staff were insufficient. The majority of patients travel to Tehran for surgery. The recent survey identified cataract as the leading cause of blindness, despite the availability of surgical services in the district and high health insurance coverage.

ISBN 978-91-554-9577-0 The present study explores the image of the Islamic Revolution, the concept of the hero, and the concept of martyrdom as depicted in ten post-Revolutionary Persian novels written and published in Iran compared with ten post-Revolutionary Persian novels written and published in exile. The method is based on a comparative analysis of these two categories of novels. Roland Barthes’s structuralism will be used as the theoretical tool for the analysis of the novels. The comparative analysis of the two groups of novels will be carried out within the framework of Foucault’s theory of discourse. Since its emergence, the Persian novel has been a scene for the dialogue between the five main discourses in the history of Iran since the Constitutional Revolution; this dialogue, in turn, has taken place within the larger framework of the dialogue between modernity and traditionalism. The main conclusion to be drawn from the present study is that the establishment of the Islamic Republic has merely altered the makeup of the scene, while the primary dialogue between modernity and traditionalism continues unabated. This dialogue can be heard in the way the Islamic Republic, the hero, and martyrdom are portrayed in the twenty post-Revolutionary novels in this study.

    Gilan Iron Age Diet: Results based on chemical analysis on samples of human and animal bones Yousef Fallahian*, 1; Vijay Sathe2; Vasant Shinde2 1Iranian center for Archaeological research (ICAR) 2Deccan College Post Graduate and Research Institute, India (Received: 07 /05 /2014; Received in Revised form: 16 /09 /2014; Accepted: 08 /11 /2014 ) Trace element analyses was carried out using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer and XRF on a small collection of bones and teeth from horse and human bone samples to check the ratio of strontium and calcium and other elements like zinc and copper. Interestingly the copper representation in humans is much higher compared to that of Sr/Ca. This shows that their diet consisted mainly of animal meat and fish rather than other vegetarian foods. However, the high representation of copper found in horse bone samples makes this scientific evidence an anomaly and needs to be seen with caution and to be checked with a larger set of samples. likewise the zinc Samples have a very weak representation. Of course the bones examined in this study came from museum repositories and did not accompany the soil samples hence the values presented here represent only the bone chemistry. Four new subspecies, Arctia caja mazandarana subspec. nov. from the Caspian Coast, Eucharia festiva hormozgana subspec. nov. from South Iran, Watsonarctia deserta elbursica subspec. nov. from the Alburz Mts., and Pbragmatobia placida mirzayansi subspec. nov. with a pale coloration, from the high mountains of the Albourz are described. The analysis of the Arctiinae fauna shows that the fauna of South-Eastern Iran is the Oriental, and not Palearctic. Jamalou Received: 25 August 2016 ; Accepted: 18 January 2017 Abstract Municipalities as well as any other organization have needed assessment and efficiency measurement to make better use of their limited resources and greater effectiveness. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of municipalities, determining efficient and inefficient municipalities using data envelopment analysis, and classifying the municipalities using Anderson Peterson techniques. On this basis, the efficiency of 10 west Guilan municipalities of Urban services section have examined and evaluated in 1393 each with three inputs and seven output. Finally, according to conducted analysis and using GAMS software among DEA various models, CCR model of envelopment form of input oriented in order to evaluate efficiency and specifying efficiency of the units. The results of CCR model indicated that units 3,4,6,7 are efficient and units 1, 2,5,8,9 are inefficient. Thus, we have used Anderson-peterson (AP) approaches in order to determine efficient units final ranking.
