OECD / CERI PRACTICAL INFORMATION International Conference “Improving Teaching and Assessment for Adult Foundation Skill Learners” To be held at OECD Headquarters, Paris 13-15 February 2008 Where? The conference will take place at OECD Headquarters (19, rue Franqueville) in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. The conference will begin at 14.00 in meeting room 1. For the meeting to start promptly at 14.00 please arrive at OECD at 13.40 so that you can pick up your entry pass at reception and go through the security checks. A map of the location of OECD Headquarters can be found on this conference web page. Travel & Hotel Accommodation Please note that you will need to make your own travel arrangements and hotel reservation. A list of hotels close to the conference venue can be found on this web page. Transportation from Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport A taxi from the airport to a hotel in the area of the conference venue will cost approximately 50 EUR. Depending upon traffic, weather and time of day, the journey will take anything from 30 minutes to over an hour. Alternatively, there is an Air France bus (Line 2) that departs from all terminals at the airport and stops at Porte Maillot (first stop on the route). The service operates from 05.45 until 23.00 and there is a bus approximately every 15 minutes. The approximate travel time is between 30 minutes and one hour, depending on traffic. An adult return ticket will cost 20 EUR (13 EUR for a one-way ticket). From Porte Maillot you can take a taxi to your hotel, or the RER train line C directly to the station Boulainvilliers if you are staying near OECD Headquarters. The Air France buses leave from Roissy Charles de Gaulle Airport towards Paris from the following places at the airport: Terminal 1: exit 34 at the arrivals level Terminal 2B / D: exit B1 Terminal 2A/C: exit C2 Terminal E and F: exit 3 at the concourse level The railway service from the airport to Paris is the RER train, at a similar cost to the Air France bus. To get to RER station Boulainvilliers you will need to change at St-Michel / Notre Dame and take RER line C, direction Argenteuil /Pontoise. Please note: From the RER station Boulainvilliers most of the hotels are in easy walking distance of 10 minutes. Transportation from Orly Airport A taxi from the airport to a hotel in the area of the conference venue will cost approximately 50 EUR and may take up to an hour depending on traffic. By train, you will need to take the Orlyval, a monorail. At the station Antony, you will take the RER line B, in the direction of Paris. If you are staying at one of the hotels near OECD get off at the station St-Michel / Notre Dame, where you will change on to the RER line C and go to the station Boulainvilliers. The Air France bus (Line 1) stops at Montparnasse and then Invalides The bus departs Orly South from exit L and from Orly West from exit D (at the arrivals level), approximately every 15 minutes between 06.00 and 23.30. A one-way ticket is 9 EUR and a return tickets costs 14 EUR. If you are getting off at Invalides you will need to take RER line C to the station Boulainvilliers.
