RIDE GUIDE

RACE DIRECTOR MESSAGE

Welcome to the 3rd edition of Velothon Sunshine course and some key safety messages around Coast in the spectacular Sunshine Coast Region, each day’s ride. an outstanding event destination and a favorite of the IRONMAN Oceania team. The opportunity to Feel free to stop me for a chat during event bring this cycling event back to the Sunshine Coast weekend, any feedback riders can give in regard to is very exciting and we are looking forward to the ride is most welcome. Enjoy your Velothon putting on a great experience for all riders. With the Sunshine Coast experience and I look forward to support of both Tourism and Events seeing you all cross that final finish line on Sunday. and Sunshine Coast Council we are looking forward to providing all our riders with a cycling experience Cheers, like no other. Toby Keegan Our goal for this event is to find a way to fully immerse all our riders within the cycling world, and Race Director what better way to do that then to put on an event when the cycling world is at the forefront of everyone’s mind during the Tour.

The support of Sunshine Coast Council in this process has been great, providing us with high quality services and beautiful parklands to work with. Their ongoing support is appreciated.

Just like the last year’s event, our team has been working on a product that has experiences to find a point of difference. We can’t change our core product, which is why we have focused on a couple of key components The Ride, The Glory and The Banter.

The Ride. We have taken the base core product of cycling and the basics that are done well across the world, regarding the Sprint and King of The Mountain sections and have tried to put our own spin on it with a Time Trial style cumulative points system. The courses we have put together are not for the faint hearted and are going to be a great challenge.

The Glory. There is going to be a Great Finish in the Hinterland town of Montville on day 1 and an opportunity to Finish at the clubhouse on day 2 & 3. Giving you the chance to test you climbing and sprinting ability with your fellow Velo Riders.

The Banter. There is nothing better than talking about the good, the bad and the ugly after a long grueling ride. Our Clubhouse will be in full swing each afternoon giving you the chance to bring your friends and family together to tell them how good you were today or to meet riders you have passed throughout the day. Then the opportunity to find out who has the Green, Red, Polka Dot, Blue, White or Yellow Jersey for the next day of riding.

Importantly please take the time to attend the rider briefings before each stage to ensure you have all the information you need for the next day. I will be giving you some insight about tough parts on
