2015-2016 President, Audio Engineering Society (International)

Elected by the 12,000 worldwide members of the AES to oversee executive operations and functions of the Society for the term covering 2015-2016. Responsible for approval of an annual 3.5 million dollar budget Presided over two conventions in Paris (June 2016) and Los Angeles (September 2016) and four conferences in Leuven, Belgium (DREAMS: De-reverberation and Reverberation of Audio, Music, and Speech), London, UK (Game Audio), Guildford, UK (Sound Field Control) and Aalborg, Denmark (Headphone Technology). Gave presentations in 2016 at University of Hartford, University of Michigan, Webster University, Belmont University, Middle Tennessee State University, Hamburg University of Applied Science, Soundcheck Expo, Mexico City, AES Brasil Expo, Sao Paulo. Implementation of new website (www.aes.org) Implementation of new member and new student member benefits programs. Streamlined paid operational staff resulting in cost savings of over $100K/year. Implemented new financial reporting systems. Reformed the Society’s communications structure by implementing monthly employee reports. Initiated the President’s Strategic Planning Team to create more transparency on membership trends, convention revenue stream vectors and new business opportunity. Hired new legal representation for the Society. Executive leadership of the peer-reviewed Journal of the Audio Engineering Society, AES Standards and AES Technical Committees.

Built and sustained a vibrant international network of students, educators and administrators. Planned and coordinated student events, technical paper sessions and workshops at AES conventions, conferences and special meetings. Provided oversight for the AES Student Delegate Assembly. Published career guidance and special educational materials. Maintained the Educational Directory of institutions offering programs in audio education. Coordinated mini-tour for authors of Recording the Beatles. Produced educational wax cylinder recording sessions of musician Suzanne Vega at the Thomas Alva Edison National Historical Site, Hot Tamale at Public Library, US Army Hell Cats and Band at West Point and Edison Wax Cylinder Recording Day at New England Institute of Art. 2012-2014 Governor, Audio Engineering Society

Taught and developed curriculum for audio technology program courses. 2008 Norm Prescott Outstanding Teaching Award. Honored by peers as college-wide outstanding faculty member. 2002 Inabeth Miller Distinguished Faculty Award. Honored by administration as college- wide outstanding faculty member. Founder and principal organizer of the Boston Area Definitive Audio Student Summit (BADASS): a full day of workshops, tutorials, demonstrations, exhibitions and presentations. This event ran annually from 2006-20014 attracting the participation of 400-500 college audio students, faculty, administrators and professionals from the New England Region hosting such luminaries as Gunther Schuller, Dave Moulton and Bill Hanley among others. Headed 2011EDMC Audio Curriculum Review Committee and Task Force. Headed 2008 NEASC Self-Study Steering Committee for Standard One (Mission). Responsible for connecting graduating students with professional opportunity including field-related internships and jobs.

2010 Wax Cylinder Recording Session Attended by a large crowd of hundreds filling the presentation room of the Boston Public Library. Participants included the curator of the Edison Lab, the Hot Tamale Brass Band and the great grand nephew of Enrico Caruso.

2009 Third Annual Boston Area Definitive Audio Student Summit Attended by over 400 College Audio Students, Faculty, Administrators and Industry Professionals. Presenters included multi-Grammy Award winning engineer Jim Anderson, Radiohead producer Sean Slade, Author David Moulton and others.

2009 Recording the Beatles Attended by a large crowd of hundreds filling the presentation room of the Boston Public Library. Served as interviewer/moderator as authors Brian Kehew and Kevin Ryan presented topics from their book and took questions from the audience.
