We celebrate the two great apostles who brought the gospel of Jesus to the world. Due to the pandemic we are bringing forward the feast in our parish, so that the three Masses today, at 9am, 11am and 5pm, will be celebrations of the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. PETER’S PENCE SPECIAL COLLECTION: There will be a special collection today for ‘Peter’s Pence’, to support the work of Pope Francis in bringing assistance to suffering communities throughout the world. Thank you for your generosity. SUNDAY MASSES: There are now three Sunday Masses in our parish: 9 am, 11 am, and early evening Mass at 5 pm. Please note the new time. There will be a limit of 50 people per Mass, and face masks should be worn. Parish stewards will continue to assist at these Masses, and we are grateful for their generosity. Anyone wishing to serve as a steward should get in touch with Fr Adrian. USHERS: In the pre-pandemic time at Sunday Mass we were ably served by a group of faithful ‘ushers’, including: John Cordwell, Veronica Eweka, Catherine Lloyd, George Flatman, and Peter and Tim Coyle. We also recall our recently deceased ushers, Hans de Vrind and Francis Pycroft. We are very grateful to all these members of the parish who served the parish community for many years, and can now take a well-earned rest. CONFIRMATION CERTIFICATES: Certificates for reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation, which was celebrated for two groups of young people on Ascension Sunday and Pentecost Sunday, are now available for collection from Fr Adrian, or from the parish office. CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE: There are plans to begin CWL meetings in the parish hall again, provided that the opening-up goes ahead on 19th July. A first meeting is pencilled in for Wednesday 21st July at 7.30. Please put the date in your diaries. SPECIAL PRAYERS: Please pray for Mary McCarthy, Teresa Pycroft, Terri Prentice, Joan Lynch and Noreen Mack. Thank you. BCYS EVENTS: Lourdes at your Local – 26th - 30th July. Lourdes on the lawn – 31st July. Monthly Youth Mass – 7th July - now on the first Thursday of the month (more details to follow). Youth Gather – 23rd October - for Year 9 and above. Catechists Training and Resource Day – 6th November. For more information on all of our events please see www.bcys.net WORLD DAY OF PRAYER 2021 – BUILD ON A STRONG FOUNDATION: This year’s prayer is provided by the people of the Pacific island of Vanuatu. The service will be held at 2pm on Friday 2nd July at St Edward’s Catholic Church in Park End Rd, Romford. Everyone welcome. Full details on the flyer on the church notice board. UNIVERSALIS.COM: It is really important, that with the use of parish Mass books suspended, we find other ways to follow the Mass, and the readings in particular. We come to Mass to be fed by both Word and Sacrament. You can download the ‘universalis’ app for a one-off payment of £10.99, and bring your phone or tablet to Mass so that you are able to follow the readings and prayers more easily. You can use the app for daily prayer too. BIBLE ALIVE: The July edition of this monthly magazine, which costs only £3, is available in church. It provides the references for the daily Mass readings, so that you can follow the readings with your own Bible. Helpful commentaries are also provided. In this way whether physically present or watching on-line you can participate in the Mass more fully. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION: Confession available on Saturday mornings at 11am. Please come to the house if Fr Adrian is not in the church. FOLLOWING MASS ON-LINE: Fr Britto of English Martyrs livestreams Mass at 10am on Sunday and week- days. To view the Mass, go to You Tube video, search for English Martyrs Catholic Church, Hornchurch and click on ‘live stream’. Alternatively go to www.dioceseofbrentwood.net to see other churches in the diocese with livestreamed Masses. YEAR OF ST JOSEPH: Pope Francis has dedicated this year to St Joseph, patron of the Universal Church. We have commissioned a bronze of St Joseph with the boy Jesus, of similar size and beauty to the bronze of Mary and the baby Jesus installed at the end of 2019. Should anyone wish to make a special donation towards the cost, please make a cheque payable to ‘Catholic Church of Christ the Eternal High Priest, Gidea Park’ and deliver to the presbytery, in an envelope clearly marked ‘St Joseph’. Thank you to all those who have made contributions. PAY BY STANDING ORDER: If you wish to switch your weekly offering from your weekly envelope to a Standing Order, please provide your bank with the following details: Payee: Christ the Eternal High Priest Catholic Church; Sort Code: 40-13-22; Account number: 51019074. This is an excellent way to contribute to the parish, and we are very grateful to all those who have arranged Standing Orders. Contributions can of course always be delivered to the presbytery or left in the green bowls in church. Thank you for supporting your parish in these difficult times. USED STAMPS FOR ST FRANCIS HOSPICE: A reminder that there is a box in the porch for your used stamps. Huge thank you to Teresa Pycroft, who organised this for us for many years.
