Over the next six days, you will witness six (6) teams from around the world competing for the right to represent their country at the Olympic Basketball Tournament taking place in Brazil from 6-21 August. In this media guide, you will find in-depth information on all of the participating teams and players. For your reference, we have also included a historical section, which outlines the final standings at past FIBA events and at the Olympic Games. The OQTs are high-level competitions. Both in 2008 and 2012, when the tournament was held as a single 12-team event, two of the three teams that earned the spots on offer for the Summer Games then went on to reach the Quarter-Finals of the Olympic Basketball Tournament in Beijing and London respectively. Italy, our hosts, will look to return to the Olympics for the first time since 2004, when they won a silver medal at the Athens Games. Enjoy one of the highlights of world basketball in 2016. La Nazionale italiana, padrona di casa, cercherà di tornare alle Olimpiadi dopo l’ultima volta del 2004, quando vinse la medaglia d’argento ai Giochi di Atene.
