Some of the important steps the Government of NCT of Delhi has taken for promoting partnership with the Voluntary Sector are described in brief as under:- 1. The Government of NCT of Delhi initiated the process of promoting partnership with the Voluntary Sector in the development process of Delhi in the 10th Five Year Plan when a Joint Machinery was constituted vide Notification No.F.21(24)/2000-02/Coord./Plg./1282-1361 dated 9.6.2004. Planning Department was declared as Secretariat of the Joint Machinery which organized a number of meetings of this Machinery during the year. 2. Government of Delhi involved NGOs/Civil Society Organizations/Voluntary Sector in Formulation of the Approach for 12th Five Year Plan of Delhi to the best possible extent. Planning Department prepared a Document “Issues & Challenges for 12th Five Year Plan” in September, 2011. This Document was placed on the website of Planning Department and Government of Delhi. 3. Eight Workshops were organized in November – December, 2011 on the vital subjects like Transport, Education, Health, Water Supply, Urban Development, Welfare of Deprived Sections, Municipal Solid Waste Disposal and Environment. These 08 Workshops were attended by a number of citizens, representatives of Civil Society Organizations, Voluntary Organizations, NGOs, Academic and Research Institutions. More than 600 suggestions received from the citizens, NGOs, Voluntary Sectors, Academic and Research Institutions were also considered in these 08 Workshops. The deliberations of these Workshops were taken into account in framing the Approach for 12th Five Year Plan of Delhi, published in June, 2012. 4. The Plan implementing departments / agencies are involving Voluntary Organizations in formulation, implementation, monitoring of various Plan i Programmes in the NCT of Delhi. Some of the major Plan Programmes being implemented in collaboration with Voluntary Organizations are: i. Development & Maintenance of Parks and Gardens. ii. Plantation of Trees and Development of City Forests. iii. Conservation and Preservation of Environment. iv. Environmental Data Generation, Survey & Research. v. Pollution Control & Environment Management vi. Consumer Awareness and Protection of their Rights. vii. Urban Family Welfare Centre viii. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. ix. Library facilities. x. Immunization Campaigns, Health Education and Awareness. xi. Social and Community Services in Slums and JJ Clusters. xii. Management of Night Shelters. xiii. Welfare of Senior citizens, Disabled and Destitute. xiv. Working Women Hostels. xv. Mid Day Meal Programme xvi. Industrial Pollution Control & Monitoring xvii. Children Homes. xviii. Women Empowerment & Child Welfare. xix. People’s Participation in the Development Process – Bhagidari / My Delhi I Care Fund. ii 5. The present Directory/ Compendium of the Voluntary Organizations (VOs)/ NGOs working in different fields contain information in respect of 335 organizations getting funds under different schemes of 9 departments (5 VO/NGO’s receiving GIA from more than one department). The compendium gives the information in respect of name & address of the organization, details of registration, functions, funds released and allocated etc. This will be updated every year after collecting information from the respective departments.
