Direct Services Provision of a Burial Service to South Hinksey Parish Council Trevor Jackson 10 January 2017 1 Contents Page Executive Summary 3 Situational Understanding 3 Approach 3 Solutions 4 Pricing 4 Appendices 2 Situational understanding We understand that South Hinksey Parish Council wants to offer a high quality burial service for their burial ground in the village. We also understand that you are particularly aware of the need for manpower and equipment to be operated in a sensitive and considerate way with careful consideration being given to the transit to the graveside and the immediate vicinity of graves. Approach We have a dedicated team maintaining the four large cemeteries in Oxford as well as managing the burial process through a highly emotional time for families and friends. Our work is carried out by qualified, experienced and trustworthy staff, all of whom are trained to Institute of Cemetery & Crematorium Management (ICCM) standards. Our Cemeteries Team are based at Cutteslowe Park Depot in North Oxford, only a few miles from South Hinksey, and together they have decades of experience covering a wide range of burial services, including interments, exhumations and memorial inspection programmes, as well as the grounds maintenance of large cemeteries and closed churchyards across Oxford. Oxford City Council is a Corporate Member of the ICCM. We have adopted the Charter for the Bereaved from the Institute and have achieved Bronze Standard in the assessment programme; consequently we take great care in our customer service when dealing with families and friends of the deceased. Oxford City Council as a whole takes customer service very seriously and the Council holds the Customer Service Excellence Gold Standard.

  • Excursion to Oxford
338 EXOURSION TO OXFORD. WHIT-MONDAY, MAY 17TH, AND FOLLOWING DAY. Directors-Prof. PRESTWICH, M.A., F.R.S., F.G.S., &c., and JAMES PARKER, Eflq., M.A., F.G.S. (Repo,·t by W. H. HUDLESTON, Esq., M.A., F.G.S.) The party were received by the Directors about noon, when Prof. Prestwich commenced a demonstration of the palreontological collection inl the University Museum, directing attention more especially to the fossils from the neighbourhood. Amongst the Portland fossils are some very fine specimens of Ammonites pectinatus, a new species figured but not described by Phillips in the Geology of Oxford. In the Kimmeridge Olay of the neighbourhood Rhynchvnella inconstansoccurs sparingly towards the base, and Exogyra virgula is tolerably common, but Ostrea deltoidea is reported to be scarce. A somewhat unexpected cir cumstance is the occurrence of Rynch. inconstans, in what appears to be a Corallian matrix from the neighbourhood of Marcham. The Oxford Museum is especially rich in the remains of the vertebrates from the various Oolitic beds of the neighbourhood, ranging from the small mammals of the Stonesfield Slate to the huge femur of the Cetiosaurus from Kirklington (the magnum bonum of Prof. Phillips).* The Professor alluded also to the recent discovery in the Kimmeridge Clay of Iguanodon Prestwich ii, a new species of that peculiar genus of Dinosaurs, which had not previously been discovered in strata older than the Wealden. After enjoying the hospitality of the Directors, the party pro ceeded eastwards in the direction of Shotover, under their guidance. Mr. Parker had provided for the use of the Members a very useful octavo tract, containing a map and sections of the strata south of Oxford, with explanatory text.

Vale of White Horse District Council 2018 Air Quality Annual Status Report (ASR) In fulfilment of Part IV of the Environment Act 1995 Local Air Quality Management June 2018 LAQM Annual Status Report 2018 Vale of White Horse District Council Local Authority Tim Williams Officer Department Environmental Protection Address Eastern Avenue, Milton Park OX14 4SB Telephone 01235 422130 E-mail [email protected] Report Reference VOWH ASR 2018 number Date June 2018 LAQM Annual Status Report 2018 Vale of White Horse District Council Executive Summary: Air Quality in Our Area Air Quality in Vale of White Horse District Council Air pollution is associated with a number of adverse health impacts. It is recognised as a contributing factor in the onset of heart disease and cancer. Additionally, air pollution particularly affects the most vulnerable in society: children and older people, and those with heart and lung conditions. There is also often a strong correlation with equalities issues, because areas with poor air quality are also often the less affluent areas. The annual health cost to society of the impacts of particulate matter alone in the UK is estimated to be around £16 billion. Air quality in the Vale of White Horse area is generally very good. There are however air pollution hotspots where nitrogen dioxide (NO2) associated with traffic emissions is higher and where it has been necessary to declare an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA). These areas are typically where houses are close to busy roads and pollution can be worsened by problems with congestion. There are three AQMAs in the district all declared because NO2 levels (primarily from traffic) were predicted to exceed national objectives: • In Abingdon, problems relate to congestion in the town centre and poor dispersion of pollutants where roads are narrow with tall buildings on either side (a “canyon” effect).

  • Jens Evans Has Been Smooth and Lifted a Heavy Weight of Responsibility from Me
OXFORD WILDLIFE NUMBER 117 NEWS SUMMER 2018 Are you a friend of Hedgehogs? See inside! 2 A Message from Janet Keene, Editor of Oxford Urban Wildlife News. Those of you who have been readers of this magazine for some time, may remember that in issue Number 114 (Summer 2017) I wrote in an editorial that, in May of that year, I was diagnosed as having had a mild stroke. The prognosis for an eventual good recovery was considered good, as long as stress was avoided. I decided upon advice that it was in my best interests to resign my post as ‘chairperson’ of the committee of OUWG as soon as possible. The transfer of ‘chairperson’ to Jens Evans has been smooth and lifted a heavy weight of responsibility from me. Jens introduces himself in the following page. At the time that I resigned the chair, I also announced to the committee that after editing the OUWG Newsletter for 100 issues (since 1992), I would be happy to pass that responsibility to a younger member of the group but would continue as editor until a new editor was found. As is so often the case with that sort of statement, I found myself remaining editor by default. However, I continued to enjoy the responsibility of providing a magazine which was focussed on Boundary Brook Nature Park but provided an umbrella organisation, drawing attention to the work of other environmental organisations throughout the city. See this issue. The JR Hospital periodically monitored the effects of my mini stroke for a year and at that point, I was released from further monitoring, although I was still not allowed to drive and the loss of full physical fitness and some short term memory problems have persisted.

ERROR! NO TEXT OF SPECIFIED STYLE IN DOCUMENT. RAF Brize Norton Airspace Change Proposal Consultation Feedback Report Document Details Reference Description Document Title RAF Brize Norton Airspace Change Proposal Consultation Feedback Report Document Ref 70751 064 Issue Issue 1 Date 3rd October 2018 Issue Amendment Date Issue 1 3rd October 2018 RAF Brize Norton Airspace Change Proposal | Document Details ii 70751 064 | Issue 1 Executive Summary RAF Brize Norton (BZN) would like to extend thanks to all the organisations and individuals that took the time to participate and provide feedback to the Public Consultation held between 15th December 2017 and 5th April 2018. The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is the Sponsor of a proposed change to the current arrangements and procedures in the immediate airspace surrounding the airport. As the airport operators, and operators of the current Class D Controlled Airspace (CAS), RAF Brize Norton is managing this process on behalf of the MOD. If approved, the proposed change will provide enhanced protection to aircraft on the critical stages of flight in departure and final approach, and will provide connectivity between the RAF Brize Norton Control Zone (CTR) and the UK Airways network. In addition, the Airspace Change will deliver new Instrument Flight Procedures (IFP) utilising Satellite Based Navigation which will futureproof the procedures used at the Station. As part of the Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) Guidance on the Application of the Airspace Change Process (Civil Aviation Publication (CAP) 725) [Reference 1], BZN is required to submit a case to the CAA to justify its proposed Airspace Change, and to undertake consultation with all relevant stakeholders.
